Custom Rules Idea
What if...there was a tool that you could use to make YOUR OWN gameplay balances and the like for custom games that you host, with flexibility to account for maybe certain champions should be disabled entirely (Teemo in Hide and Seek anyone?) or maybe reduce cooldowns significantly (custom URF that's more OP than URF?) to better suit the custom game you're thinking of doing.
Basically the idea is two-fold: A) A "customization mini-game" of making all the gameplay balances you can think of (within reason, not something like put Dragon at Nexus turret. Thinking more along the lines of stuff Riot's able to do with buffs/nerfs that aren't rework related but more mana cost, cooldowns, etc. related). I'm seeing it as sort of like the Item Set customization option you have except the impact applies to what everyone experiences instead of just you. Speaking of Item Set customization though, with the new Zeke's Harbinger item being introduced, but it not really being favorable balance-wise to some Rioters (looking at you Zirene, you know what a lot are thinking lol), maybe customization to Items and their effects would be an interesting concept too (although of course when it comes to the unique actives and the like, it'd prob be restricted to the existing ones since unique coding is involved for those) since items can be a big part of gameplay balance too.
B) Custom games having the option to apply "custom rules" that the player hosting the game made. idk maybe there could be a way to show them all formatted sort of like the patch notes so it's readable, so that people going into the lobby can know what to expect if they want to check it. Maybe there could be a unique format with the custom rules such that they can be easily copied, saved, imported, and the like to share across all players (since after all, seeing what others come up with could inspire other ideas to their unique rules)
Potential beneficial consequences if this were to work:
- We all know those people who think a certain champion is too OP and needs to be nerfed, or is too weak and needs to be buffed. Well, they can try it out here and have others see what it'd be like too. Who knows, maybe it could transition to a way for players to give Riot feedback on buffs/nerfs that may not be a bad idea based on actual gameplay with it.
- Custom game modes that fans like to play can have better enforced rules (less room for trolling)
- Sort of offers a perspective to the fans of the kinds of challenges Riot deals with when it comes to balancing all these challenges and offers an interesting way to see what they can come up with for fun
I see a lot of UI challenges in this (how would this be designed such that it isn't really hard to make kind of thing) as well as a lot of work that would probably have to go into this, but idk thought it'd be an interesting concept. What do you all think?
