Typhoon Claws Interactions.

I don't know if the topic if the item has already been discussed since I don't frequent the Boards or Reddit.

However when I first played the new game mode, I was intrigued by what the items did and their interactions. Some items can just be downright frustrating to deal with with certain champions and others are lack luster because of the minimum impact they give to others. I first tried Jinx with Mirage blade and it gave her great kiting potential. I tried to do Garen and Yorick but in the Yorick game I lagged terribly, and found I couldn't buy the Flesheater and utilize it properly if I am lagging and the Garen one our ADC went top and I was stuck bottom and couldn''t go for what I originally wanted.

So closely examining the items I was curious about the interaction with item 3652 [Typhoon Claws] when my friend used Vayne. It was an obvious build item to her, but I was more intrigued at other champions that could use it... and sadly not many really can and the weapon ends up being better for champions with on-hit effects such as MasterYi and Warwick .

For those that aren't aware of what the item does: item 3652 Typhoon Claws - 2000 Gold +30 AD +20% Attack Speed +4% Movement Speed

UNIQUE Passvie - Phantom Hit: Basic Attacks grant Malice Charges upon hitting an enemy. After 3 stacks, your next 3 attacks will be at maximum attack speed, but deal -50% damage. Charges expire after 3 seconds.

To start with the champions we tried with were: Aatrox , Kennen , Azir , Lucian , Jinx , Graves , Kalista , Jax .

Champions I didn't expect much out of with the item:

Aatrox was pretty simple, but that he could heal way quicker with the three procs and that there wasn't any diminshing healing with his Blood Thirst and damage amplification with Blood Price. Though I understand Blood Price and Thirst are separate from the auto itself, but it's something that I wasn't expecting regardless.

Kennen Kennen I was hoping might be able to give some easy procs with his Mark of the Storm passive and bigger damage with his Electric Surge W giving the 5th proc Shuriken that adds 40-80% of your total AD as magic damage. However after playing around with it more I concluded it wasn't as good as I hoped, but that you do have good dueling potential giving you the W proc and your passive stun (you have to drag the fight out just a bit in order to make it really good, otherwise I wouldn't bother with it).

Graves Not much really to say other than making his his E come off cooldown a bit faster. That's about it, I don't know why we bothered with Graves in the first place.

Jax Other than super quick stacking with his already insane attack speed steroid passive and versatile dueling Ultimate passive (which doesn't get reduced either), I feel that Flesheater would be only slightly better, for the ability to gain damage and go tanky. Other than that it's moderate.

Champions with interesting results:

Azir So Azir is the one I was really surprised by but made sense anyway. So when you stack the Typhoon passive and activate it you get an instant 2.50 attack speed. However Riot was aware this might be abused so Azir is the only champion who actually doesn't get this buff, simply because his Soldiers could not consume the Malice Charges. He still gets the 3 quick autos, but it won't interact with the Soldiers since he doesn't actually gain the 2.50 attack speed from the proc itself. It would have been ridiculous if he could though, so be grateful it's not I guess.

Lucian So Lucian is definitely able to make use of the item. His passive allows for super quick stacking and on-hit effects. Though the thing I was most interested in was checking out how it reacted with The Culling and it does exactly what I thought. If you make sure to activate the passive to gain the 2.50 attack speed, you'll gain an insane amount of damage and bullets. I was noticing I'd do double my damage with the ultimate when you proc'd the passive. The only thing I found a bit tough with though is his auto animation with this passive is super fast, so it can be harder to cancel before consuming all 3 procs with Lucian than other champs I found. Still, an interesting interaction.

Jinx Jinx seems pretty explanatory on it's own, however I was amazed when I realize that the AOE portion of Fishbones was not getting reduced damage, allowing for some super quick wave clear. This almost makes the rockets even stronger in grouped teamfights as everyone around her attacking target will take full the full damage from the AOE 3 times in a second. The target she attacks get reduced damage on all 3 rockets though, however I did have weird moments where the 3rd Rocket didn't have the 50% reduced damage while the other two initial Rockets did. I wasn't able to consistently get it to work, but it seems to happen more often when the target was low on health. The biggest thing you'll find doing this though is you're going to want to build an item 3508 Essence Reaver in order to make this passive work well, otherwise you'll just run out of mana much quicker.

Champions with varying results:

Kalista So, Kalista was one I was wondering if it would make it easier to stack Rends, and to a degree it definitely does, and can give her a lot of quick damage with her execution Rend. The only downside is that you have weaker wave clear and stacking rends on multiple targets won't really be that easy to do, you also run the risk of multiple hops way too quickly as I had moments where I couldn't stop her from hopping once I bought one more attack speed item. It wasn't a consistent problem, but it did happen on occasions.

Champions I do wanna try but haven't taken the time with: Ashe Braum RekSai Skarner Sivir Warwick XinZhao Caitlyn KogMaw Nocturne Olaf Pantheon Fizz

The first one I wanna comment on though is KogMaw and XinZhao considering Kog's Bio Arcane Barrage W does % health, I'm sure which would destroy anyone building tanky and going AP Xin Zhao and how ridiculous you could heal yourself off of towers (since the passive does stack on structures).

**Final Thoughts: **

I think Typhoon Claws is an interesting item and some of the interactions are pretty good, though for some it's a weaker, lane version of item 3930 item 3931 item 3932 item 3933 Sated Devourer. It's a pretty neat weapon overall, with pretty weak stats, but some cool uses if used in the right way.

Anyone else have anything to add to this or experiences with it?

Side Note: Sated Devourer doesn't stack with Typhoon Claws, and Sated will take priority.

Edit: Fixed an error that I had made with Typhoon Claws' description.

The passive comes up more often on Nocturne, but it's pretty insignificant.

What I found interesting was how you can combine Typhoon Claws with Flesheater, so it's easier to stack AD. It gives you crazy sustain--so much that I could lane against Heimerdinger as Tryndamere.

Teemo build Wit's End to get a mini Warwick ult (on hits, not suppression) every couple of autos Ashe build runaan's hurricane as well and enjoy the upgrade from machine gun to gatling gun ashe Twitch doesn't really do too much for you MissFortune pretty lackluster early but if you get black cleaver and get a typhoon auto in before ulting you can do some serious damage It seems to have weird interaction with Bork where the on-hit doesn't change or doesn't seem to apply. I can't tell which it is.

Where are you getting that description? The item simply says "your next 3 attacks will be at maximum attack speed," not that 3 occur in the span of 1 max speed attack.
