1v1 and 2v2 game modes ever coming back?

I don't know about everyone else, but I loved the 1v1 and 2v2 game modes. While the game modes existed I did nothing but play LoL nonstop. But was also very disappointed when it was removed, and since then have basically been hoping it would be brought back. Is there a possibility that it will at some point? Another question I have been wondering since riot has been coming out with these new temporary game modes: Does riot ever plan on making any of them permanent? Because to me it feels rather ridiculous to mess with, touch-up, and eventually attempt to perfect these game modes if we're never going to play them again, and if we do it's only temporary.
