Nothing against the game, I've just become a lot busier as of late. When i have a free half hour+ the first thing league related I do now is check the universe page. Hats off to the lore team.

Months ago Riot said they wanted League to be around forever. Which is laughable. The longest lasting SINGLE game we have right now is CS:GO with DOTA2 coming in second place. Both, at most, have been around for nearly two decades. Riot saying League will be around for 50 is the equivalent to pointing at the moon and saying you're going for a home run.
However, Riot realized they now have an IP to the scale of Warcraft or Starcraft. People know this game and lvoe it, even if they don't enjoy the gameplay. In doubling down on lore, they're building the world for the eventual "death" of League that happens when they have to move on. However, this means that the IP will still exist and that they can continue making league products. After all, a lot of people dislike the MOBA genre.

On more serious note, Meddler should be now working on expanding the game gallery so that Riot Games deserve the S at the end, however it is questionable If it's anything lol-related.

Not sure how they can't be full on sued for that kind of shiftyness.

MMOs are on the decline because all the good MMOs are old and dated (or turned into pay2win scams, eg: Ragnarok)
A new GOOD mmo would actually be decent. But you'd have to do it perfectly. ie: if you ignored bots on release your game is dead.

I liked the old lore that they deleted. I also liked summoners.
It also took them 2 years to even come close to replacing the lore they got rid of.... So we were sitting on "no official lore" for a long time, and at this point it's too little too late. I no longer care about the lore.

The old lores are not canon. They no longer have anything to do with the League of Legends world.
I can't feel "connected" to my champion when I'm playing them based on the old lores.

Summoners no longer exist. Master Yi is no longer talking to me when I issue movement commands. He's just saying random shit to himself. "Did you miss it?" is no longer directed at the summoner, in a playful "I'm so fast even my summoner can't see me" sort of way. Now it's just random banter.

2.Oh yeah because lore like "janna's dirty pictures got leaked teeheee" was so much more tasteful. Different lore pieces have different tones,the one about the zaunite kids had a more childish tone,wheras Warwick was a lot more serious or Mundos lore that was more or less full with dark humor.

That garbage was plastered all over the forums when it came out. I didn't need to "search" for anything. Heck I didn't even believe it was real, that's how bad it is.

It sounds more and more like you just weren't around for the old lore and are making assumptions based on the fact the newer lore is either all you know or just what you prefer.

GreenLore2 votesUhm as far as i can remember the ionian boots were the only items that were added through an event. I know that some other items had some lore(like dorans items being made by Doran after he got a kick to the head or a very small bit of backstory on wriggles lantern),but that hardly counts as an event.
Also we got Deadmans plate from the bilgewater event(because thats the plate that Gp wears after his near-death experience) and also got more backstory on the blade of the ruined king.

I like the old lore much more, and there are tons of things I dislike about the new lore. Just because the new lore is "new" doesn't make it an "upgrade" like in your example.

It is more like, you already HAVE a thing, enjoy that thing, then someone takes that thing from you, say a toy. Then you are told "it's fine we are giving you a newer toy" and you go...well....I really liked the other one you took from me, but alright.
Then two years later you gave up hoping for that toy after years of glaring at your parents for taking it away, then they finally go "Hey look, here is that thing I promised you two years ago!" and you would just look at them funny.
Sure some people might go "awesome, new toy", but some of us still remember the one that was pointlessly taken away with a complete b.s. reason ("too many constraints with the current lore"), then given nothing almost for 2 years straight.
It's okay for you to be cool with that, but don't call someone immature for not having the same reaction as you.

The old lore, to me, felt forced. It seemed like they were just grasping at straws to make everyone fit into the league. I still have this theory that somehow once all the lore is updated theyre going to reintroduce the league of legends. Maybe not as it was but I have a feeling that it will be back in some form but again, thats just my theory which probably wont amount to much.
Xonra1 votesSadly this is pretty much the camp I am in. I adored the old lore. Part of what made me stick with the game coming from an MMO at the time and putting time into League.
Then they scrapped it with no replacement, sort of half-ass said "uh...yeah that one thing we did...that is part of the retcon now" with the freljord update, then just went damn near radio silent for 2 years with promises of "things coming up soon guys! Be excited" then more nothing.
It would be like my parents suddenly showing up at my house going "Hey remember that puppy you wanted when you were 7 after we took your other one? Well here ya go!" and I would just stare at them and close the door.

Xonra1 votesI'm trying to be super excited about lore, but I feel bad that I'm not anymore. I loved the old lore, and the new lore is really good too, if not better in some cases. The problem is I loved the old lore, then they removed it, then waited how many years to start really going now? Something like 2 years with a mostly empty lore hole to fill.
Sadly in that time I fell out of love with the lore and just stopped caring. Is nice that it is here now, but sadly I sort of stopped wanting it anymore after the 2 years span of barely anything but a one-paragraph bleh.
