Can Riot please not ruin Viktor and Zaun?

Pls rito Q.Q I really like Zaun and all of it's characters, Please don't do something to draw away the fans of this particular region and it's characters. Some of us really don't want to see Viktor get turned into some kind of robot-demon that demands sacrifice :(

And also some of us don't appreciate the fact that you're changing the whole lore of a city, the one we knew and loved for what it was, just so you can fit it into a mold that suites only one newly added character and destroys the rest of them :(

PS: I'm sorry if my english is bad, and sorry if I couldn't get my point across I'm really bad at stating my opinions QwQ

EDIT: Also in my own opinion, Riot should focus on giving Viktor that kind of ''Nikola Tesla'' vibe cause it suites him. But that's just my opinion I guess sigh

Help me out since i am absolut not into lore and that whole stuff. With Camilla they added new lore and i see people on these boards complaining that the background about viktor is not what viktor is supposed to be.

How can anyone else then the developer know what viktor is supposed to be?

Since the cult exists within piltover, and not only does Viktor have to deal with people stealing his inventions, but Piltover has a history of using other cultures for their own ends cough ezreal cough, my theory is that some religious pilties saw the glorious evolution, saw it's religious possibilities, and ran with it. And then, what do you know, it turns out there's an immortal augmented woman with a hextech heart who flies around the city on grappling hooks attached to blade legs and punishes the corrupt, and that's your deity to pray to right there. Just my theory, though.

Yeah the poor saps needed something to believe in because they we're poor and sick. They turned to body augmentations and who is the best at body augmentations? None other than Viktor, who I imagine would be completely giving people robot parts, however the whole cult thing and hate for people who don't want robot parts doesn't seem like Viktor. Seems mostly like mob-mentality like you said.

Yeah. Though to be fair, Camille could have just said that to keep the follower (I can't remember her name) out of her way while Camille worked. And the cult people seem nice enough, given that prosthetics are expensive yet they hand that shit out like it's dollar store candy. Also, the head priest guy was willing to give Camille the information without asking for anything in return. Does that sound like main Piltover groups to you?

In the new lore though viktor isnt the inventor of augments, its actually camiles family who first got hextech crystals from skarners people. Camile is the gray lady because she is the first one in piltover/zaun to be heavily augmented. It seems viktor is just a innovater of augments but not the inventor of augments.

I think Viktor was the first to use it to such a degree. He didn't invent augmentation; somebody may have lost an arm and gotten a prosthetic. No; he invented the Glorious Evolution. Not augmenting out of necessity but rather a realization that machinery is flat out better. Change for the sake of improvement as a movement is what he birthed by becoming the first fully augmented human.

Also, I don't think Camille is the Gray Lady.

The geek in me is hoping it's Orianna honestly. But I'm hovering towards it being more like the Bearded Lady; just some deity that the locals believe in rather than a champion. You could be right though, that's the cool thing about theory crafting. Only time will tell :)

In regards to your last comment, while Camille may not be the Gray Lady, I think she may have inspired her given that when you're an augmented human and you hear about an immortal augmented woman flying around the city punishing the corrupt, that makes for easy scripture.

Just wondering, has it been confirmed that Camille's heart is from a brackern? I haven't seen anything confirming it but maybe I'm wrong.

i believe that it isn't since camille bio states that synthetic hextech crystals were created before camille was born. so i would assume that her heart is synthetic but her wealth might have allowed her to get a brackern heart.

Even though she's wealthy, is she truly wealthy anymore? She's basically a slave to her family, and given the power of hextech and how she was seen as disposable by her brother, it might be that her family is very cheap or doesn't like to spend money. It's highly possible that they just bought a hextech heart that could keep her alive as long as they needed, because they would need to shut her down if she went rogue. A brackern heart would keep them from ever being able to truly kill her, so that could be their downfall in the long run.

It may just be blind optimism but a similar thought occurred to me. Besides I doubt that Viktor would allow his Evolution to worship a deity, real or not. The one thing that is certain about Viktor is that he wants to be the very best like no one ever was. I doubt that if he made a cult he would let something else be at the center of it.

One thing to consider is that Viktor is no longer the person that started the evolution, but instead leads his own branch of the following with different philosophies and practices. If this isn't the case though and he is just some kind of alpha cultist then I'm going to be pretty disenchanted with the lore.

Seeing as how I typically only stick to games that have a good enough story to keep me enchanted; if Viktor's lore goes into the gutter I'll probably drop the game altogether.

Viktor kind of seems like a reasonable guy. A bit extreme, but better than most piltover champs. People who, I remind you have a history of using objects from other cultures for their own means Ezreal or beating up people like Viktor simply for not having the same views as them Jayce . Viktor's been wronged before, and like you said, he would probably hate that people among the Glorious Evolved are following not only a religious cult, but following his invention but crediting someone else. So I don't think he's any sort of behind the scenes guy or anything.

To be fair Viktor did steal Jayce 's magic rock that he got from Piltover that they probably got from some person that stole it from Skarner 's people.

Inb4 Ezreal was also a middleman from the thieves to Piltover.

Did we though? Zaun was hinted as something through a lot of champion lores and the JoJ but in reality the only ones who know what Zaun is and how it looks is Riot... now that they open the box for us to take a look at it, it suddenly isn't what we expected but that doesn't mean it isn't what it's always being for the foundations team

Except in mundos splash art you can see a depiction if zaun that does not reside in valleys. Also zaun and piltover used to be independent coty states

you can see a PART of zaun that doesn't resides in valleys, as a matter of fact you can barely see anything because of the smoke and the site portrayal on universe is also just a small part of the city arranged in a way that fits on an scrollable website...

Zaun and Piltover are still separated cities, they always were next to each others though and irl boundaries between cities often times create a neutral exchange zone, nothing too out of the ordinary happening here.

I doubt Viktor is a robot demon that demands sacrifice. He probably just a cult following and some of them are really radical about it. Although, to be fair, Viktor hates flesh of all kinds, so I wouldn't be surprised if the process is extremely gruesome. I mean, did anyone else think about how gruesome it would be to replace your entire body with metal? I doubt Viktor is some preacher, more someone who demands an evolution of mankind, which can easily bring religion into the eyes of the people. Viktor may be worshiped as a god among his cult, whether he likes it or not, simply because his idea is THAT good to others.

Riot has been retooling the lore of Runeterra region by region. I say this new lore actually helps the story of Piltover and Zaun and gives an even deeper meaning to characters and connections. Take for instance Vi and Jinx. Both are Zaunites that have a habit for chaos and destruction, but have ended up in Piltover for different reasons. In the old lore when Piltover and Zaun were separate cities altogether it was kind of odd for them to both travel to piltover just to due petty crime (Vi) or hunt for an old acquaintance and make their life hell (Jinx). Now that one is literally on top of the other and there is really no distance between the 2 it makes things more believable, and helps gives Jinx an area to actually escape to when evading Caitlyn and Vi.

I don't quite think that's what is happening here. Remember, so far, we only have Camille's side of the story. A piltovian (?) point of view, in other words, an outsider's point of view.

Zaun is an unusual, and evil place to those outside of it. It exists in poverty, thievery, and an endless struggle to be recognized, to survive. Piltover is like the "rich" Zaun, to make a comparison.

We have to wait for the perspectives of the other Zaun champions; Ekko has given us a bit of insight to what it is like recently, but we really need more perspectives.

Viktor is my main mid laner. I enjoy him so much and love his lore because in essence what lead to his becoming a machine was a desire to rid himself of all the emotions he felt about being betrayed on the Blitzcrank project. It resonates so well. Humanizing a machine making. Making him a generic bad guy is a lame idea. His transformation is the bottom of his depression and in turn, is almost like a suicide, because after he emerges as the machine herald he is no longer the same man. Physically and mentally.
