Resurgence of Lore

Amid all the hullabaloo of the Bilgewater Event one thing really caught my attention, the backstory that riot has written for it. The short story featuring Twisted Fate, Graves, Gangplank, and Miss Fortune so far in Act 1&2 has been amazing! Also the illustrations complete with points of interest flesh out more of the location.

For a lore freak like myself this has been great, I love seeing stories unfold especially in video games as it gives you a chance to interact with the environment and characters. The roster of unique characters is what initially drew me to LoL, and as soon as I started to play I went through the champion backgrounds and scoured the wiki and lore videos of youtube to find out more about the world. However one thing that struck me as odd was that for such a popular game with so many unique champions and locations there seemed a general lack of player interest in the lore. I understand not everyone cares to know what a characters motivations are and would rather just play the game, but I know that for many others like myself story is important. Also it seemed that Riot didn't have a ton of lore out there or readily accessible.

However lately with the newer champ trailers, backgrounds, promos, and events like this one lore is starting to become more prominent and I love that. I would be happy to see more short stories or even full length novels about Runeterra and it's champions in the future; as well as the possibility of taking part in future events like this one that allow players to get to know other parts of the world as well(Ionia for example).

I'm just glad to see that story is something that Riot is spending time on in order to bring us a more complete experience in the game and hope that this trend continues!

TL;DR: Isn't all the story and lore stuff recently cool? I hope that it continues!

What to say? I started playing to LoL again like i used to almost an year ago. Sure the game's fine, but now i know for sure that without a story LoL cannot be appealing to me. Happy to see that Riot's finally acknowledging even the lore fans
