The saddest story ever told...

I've been talking to a friend about the stories in League, and particularly the topic of sad stories came up. I personally think that the overall story of the Shadow Isles and how an entire civilization has been affected in such a way has to be one of the saddest outcomes. Though, I would say that can also be the case if we're talking about individual stories. Maokai, in this case, in particular suffered the loss of something he created and maintained for such a long time, only to have it not just die but turn against him. Even though it wasn't necessarily elaborated into detail in his story, I would say that it's at the top of the charts when it comes to the saddest story in League lore.

Which story do you think is the saddest? Doesn't necessarily have to be a biography or a short story linked to a particular champion, of course. As in this case, the story of the Shadow Isles spans across multiple storylines with multiple champions.
