Opinion: Repeated skin releases disvalues a champion.

Yasuo, Kai'sa, Lux and Ezreal. These champion have received a large amount of skins in a short period and as you know, many have protested against this. But what I see from my own perspective is that due to "exploring fantasies" as they say it, these champion has become more and more "generic" over the years. They follow a certain fantasy archetype, but outside of that they seem to become more and more hollow after one skin release.

Do people acknowledge Ezreal is even a explorer these days? Or did he just devolve into just a blonde brat? Is Lux just really this shallow? Just a teenage girl who shoots out stuff? What became of Yasuo's sense of honor and traditionalism? This arcade skin in particular is out of character. Kai'sa...well I'm SURE the design team knows what the hell she is.

Just please, handle your characters you made carefully. They are starting to become "nothing". Keep them consistent with personality.

Ps: I'm still waiting for a better Syndra skin.

Okay I laughed more than I should have.

Honestly I'm just gonna repeat what I say all the time. Riot is a company, they make skins that will sell because they need and want money. I wholly understand the reasons why they do that. I'm not happy with it tho. Yes, skins are just a "nice side thing", but it's not just about that. You just feel like your favourite champion is getting ignored sometimes. And it feels bad. I know perfect equality will never exist, and popular champions will always be favored since they bring in cash. It's normal, but it's annoying. I'm not even that hungry for a skin tbh, I play Syndra, and prefer her base skin over any of her skins, and I'm fine with that. It's just that it feels like your champion has been forgotten. I know it's not as easy, and that it's not the case don't get me wrong, but that's what it feels like. And the worst part is, Syndra's not even the worst offender in that regard.

Ps: I'm still waiting for a better Syndra skin.

Me too, friend, me too. I'm still hoping for Coven, because I need my queen to have a darker skin and think she'd be a perfect fit. But well, I'm not actively expecting it because I don't wanna be disappointed haha!

One thing I've felt with the amount of skins Kai'Sa has gotten: she seems to have lost her identity as a person with a Void symbiote grafted onto her body.

You may be thinking, "Skins are supposed to explore different fantasies," and certainly so. But consider Elise, or Zyra, or Shyvana, or Cassiopeia--all ladies with some "monstrous" qualities in their design. I'd say overall their skins do a decent job of exploring their respective fantasies, and do so without forgetting the Champions' origins. They are very much beautiful monsters.

But with Kai'Sa, I feel like right from the beginning they've been trying to distance her from the "monster" portion of her design. It feels like they gave her the title of "Void marksman" to check it off a list, and have since made every effort to separate her from the Void and from her symbiote.

Doesn't that limit design though? Saying Ezreal can't have such and such a skin because it doesn't fit his personality/theme is wrong. It should be the opposite. Put it this way, it's all well and good making another anime-like skin for Ezreal but how is that any different to SG or BA? Or even Arcade? Players of that champ will just think "What's the point if it isn't really any different from the last? I won't buy that."

Now a Dark Star or Void, that's different, surely that would sell because it's different. But Riot lost credibility because of Battle Boss Yasuo, he indeed fits this idea of something different, doesn't fit the theme etc but it feels so much like a cash grab it hurts, especially when there are champs going 4 years who would do better as a Battle Boss, give Yasuo the Arcade if you want cash grab.
