I was also wondering if Sion will be getting his splash art updates anytime soon.

Hey Moonboy65!

We just finished shipping Ryze which had 9 splash arts! We transitioned onto all of those shortly after finishing the last batch of Nid/Trist/Trundle.

Good thing Yorick doesn't have 9 skins so we have some more bandwidth to get back to old splash art updates. We have just begun early work on Sion and Fiora splashes as well as Yoricks.

I know some of you reading this will ask, why Fiora over Twitch? Well, like I mentioned in previous posts we have to fit the old splash reworks in between the splash updates for our up and coming VGUs, and our up and coming VGU's are always going to be higher priority. That being said, once we looked at the time we had before we had to start on Warwicks (9!) splashes we realized there wasn't going to be time to do all of Yoricks, Sions, and Twitch's in time. Fiora only has 2 splashes that need updating (Royal Guard and Nightraven) and we felt it would be possible to get them out before we had to start jamming on sweet Warwick splashes. Twitch is still high priority and we will likely get on that asap.

Not sure which champion you are referring to? The Ryze ones are done and live now. We just begun early work on the others I mentioned so none of them are done yet.

Nunu, Riven and Trundle? Those three actually have really modern and up to date splashes. But the rest (most of them at least) I can fully agree on needing a new Base Splash.

Oh, I thought we're talking about the Base splashes, which I think are fine for those three champs.

Then yeah, I agree that (excluding Trundle) their skin splashes could definitely use an update.

I think he may have referred to that new bird champion as in that teaser poster, perhaps? This brings me to think.. What do you Rioters prefer to focus on first when creating a champion?

Narrative, Concept & Design are where every champion starts. The plash art isn't started to the very end of the process, when he in-game model is pretty much finished.

Sounds like Raven might be referring to classic splashes of champs that haven't had their's updated yet (e.g- Leona, Skarner, Volibear, Amumu).

Are there any plans to rerelease any of Twitch's legacy skins (since they're the main ones needing the splash updates)? Or is Twitch going to get a new skin relatively soon? I ask because only 2 of his are available right now and I want to get another one (already have Pickpocket, don't like Gangster much).

Yeah, that would be the plan, similar to what we did with Trist/Trundle/Nidalee (Temporarily of course). The only one we wouldn't make available would be medevil twitch.

Don't remind me. We're at least two years away from his third skin as well. (I consider PP Taric to be an anomaly and not a new rule of thumb).

So... you're going to work on Twitch and Warwick at the same time, which means 17 total splash updates? Sounds like a huge project that might mean Twitch's much needed updates pushed back even further?

I know I have mentioend to you in the past that we are trying to make the time between VGU -> new skin much shorter. I can understand why at this point you want to be cautious about but it is something we want to continue doing in the future. Or at least something I will continue to bug the skins team about :)

That's a little clearer. So, another 4-6 months before Twitch's updates get started?

It's not about "wanting to be cautious," but knowing that past behaviors can predict future patterns.

For several years, I've heard from different members of the skins team, both in person, on these boards and social media, that even if Yorick wasn't on the "no skins until rework" list, he'd probably have one skin every 2-3 years, if that. It's too much work for the team due to multiple models, particles and assets (each of which needs to be updated for the new skin), and the champ just isn't popular enough to warrant the extra work (Riot's purposeful intention).

And that's not even taking to consideration how well received this new rework is going to be. It could be as successful as Poppy/Taric or it could be another Mordekaiser/Skarner/Shen that misses many marks in favor of being "innovative." I even hear "Yorick's going to be metal as f*ck," but there's no one willing to attempt to prove those statements or are are confident enough to make a friendly wager with me.

(For the record, the bet was he money I spent on League, some $2100 over five years, going to charity if the rework isn't the best thing ever vs some equivalent punishment since I make a fraction of what a Rioter makes in a month.)

So... why should I believe the skins team would put any new, potential money generating skins on hold and spend the time to make a new Yorick skin quickly after his release? Just because someone from Riot says they want to? I'm sorry, but any faith I had in Riot's noble intentions were burned out of me when the Freljord became a thing, Trundle went from a sympathetic poop troll to a generic ice one, and Narrative went from a content generating department to one that did nothing for nearly two years but treat lore fans like garbage.

So, yeah. That's where I'm coming from, and why I still believe that we'll see a new Yorick skin after I turn 41 (February 2018).

Why is Twitch being left by the wayside? He was one of the first VU's and yet he's stuck with his horribly ugly Chinese splash arts. He should be the highest priority.

I second the question! Karma was the first of the overall reworks back in the day and STILL doesn't have her splashes updated! Even if she isn't Riot's favourite champion, she still deserves better! Nobody puts Karma in the corner, eh? ;)

When will old Kat spashes be updated? When she will have legendary skin? Why does Project: Kata have white hair and dont have scar or tatoo? Why all project skins represent cyborgs or androids, but Ekko has very human face?

In a few years maybe. Perharps in a few years. Because she's a cyborg and doesn't have her human skin anymore. All Project skins have white hair. Because he's a cyborg not an android. Ashe, Fiora, Kata, Leona and Yasuo all have their human faces, some have artificial skin though.

Well... what about some of the champions that had their splash arts replaced by the chinese ones? Like Shaco for instance? Those splash changes were one of the hardest for me to watch due to the quality downgrading on Asylum Shaco's splash. (having a background and nice colors vs. not having a background and having over-saturated colors)

WHAT?! I thought that talk was long shelved! Man I'm really hoping that Adam Harrington will return for his voice though... He didn't stay for Ryze's and Karthus's voice. (Karthus more was a bit more understandable though.)

How did Fiora get a head of Karma , I mean you can say Fiora have less skin but Karma only have one more skin than her (in need of update) so I don't see how you could gloss over Karma like that, its just on more splash.

That's kinda sad. I was really excited for the new splashes for Twitch, any sort of attention to the rat from Riot...only to hear he's being pushed back further in favor of other champions, some of whom's updates came after his. :/

Both Akali and Evelynn are on the list for full VGU. They'll get new splashes and new skin models with the rework.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but can a Rioter or someone else be able to provide the artist that created the Project splash arts, a link to a high quality version of the images? I really want to see them in 1080p and would really appreciate anyone's help.

Are there any plans on Alistar, Nasus, TF and Kassadin's skin splashes? I think they're among the worst (Magnificent TF is literally the worst splash in the game ATM). And does Anivia count as being 'updated', because almost all of her splashes look like garbage nowadays, especially that holiday one. Also, while on the subject of Kassadin, is he gonna get a new base splash? The one he has now is really noisy, and it doesn't really show his new model.
