Battle Boss Qiyana

So I was looking at the concept art for Battle Boss Qiyana (which you can also view yourself here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/KaJ56G ) and couldn't help but notice what could have been...

This design harkens back to the designs of Battle Boss Malzahar and Brand in that, like them, though the shape is humanoid there's enough weirdness going on that it doesn't feel overtly human. By having human flesh visible in Qiyana and Yasuo's skins I've seen some folks even get confused and think they were just darker Arcade hero skins rather than Battle Bosses. I know quite a few people were also just plain disappointed in how overtly human the battle boss skins this year were and I'm honestly curious what the thought process was this time around. I'm wondering why they decided to stray away from the weird and lean a little closer into the human.

That said between Yasuo and Qiyana I still prefer Qiyana's Battle Boss skin to Yasuo's, I even like it better than her base skin, buuuuut I also really like robotic looking things so a robot-y Battle Boss Qiyana would have been even more up my alley. Ah well.

Anyway what do ya'll think of this Battle Boss Qiyana design that got left on the cutting room floor? Are you surprised to know there was a point when we maybe could have gotten a less human look for this Battle Boss? Which design is your favorite?

As a launch skin they probably didn't go with that as it does change her appearance pretty drastically. To me it almost looks more like Orianna.

She takes inspiration from Bowsette/the Mario games if I'm not mistaken, so I can honestly understand them wanting her to appear more "normal" or "human" for the skin. Though, I still think they could have executed it better in that regard to still give it that classic "Battle Boss" feel while having it stand out.

The robotic one, while being more true to the Battle Boss theme, doesn't really feel... Right. It doesn't give me the same impression that the human version does.

Man, just goes to show how much they fucked it up in the end. That concept art actually makes look like she'd fit in pretty easily with Malzahar, Brand, Ziggs and the others.

I honestly think both look incredible. I don't have a I want one or the other, I have a I'm happy with both.

That one concept is really cool. What we are getting for both Yasuo and her looks more like a slightly more edgy main character, or at least part of the player team, rather than a menacing boss in a dungeon.

Shame, but whatever. At least we will get Vice skins too.

I made a theory for why these two would look different than the rest of the Battle Boss cast. Would be pointless to type it all here as well, so I'll give you the TL:DR, and you can find the bigger text on my thread.

TL:DR - Yasuo and Qiyana were originally Arcade Heroes that ended up turned into Battle Bosses.

If you took a look at Zoe's concept art you'd be surprised on how good Zoe could have been too.

Honestly the thing that bothers me about the BB skin for her is how the colors are all too similar, y'know? I think it just looks kinda odd.

Neither Human norRobotic. I want her to be an oroginal bitch of a rude person in this theme loke any boss would not just randomly copy pasted edgelord wannabe.

People that vote the robottic probably don't buy it anyway, but thanks for your opinions I guess lol Qiyana

Glad they choose for the human version, already have enough of bad selling skins

I don't even own Qiyana, but I'd vastly prefer this over the BB skin that came out, except maybe with her current BB skin hair and a diff mouth. This is so much more creative than what we got, and it's a shame they chose showing as much skin as possible over originality. (I don't think showing skin is a bad thing, but in this case it's to the detriment of the theme and the skin itself)
