It shall stay for as long as this game uses a cursor.
You can use a program called Yolomouse to customize your cursor. Just Google it. It's fairly simple to use and all it does is change the cursors to whatever you want them to be. Each one can be changed, such as the normal cursor, cursor on enemy/ally, terrain, targets, etc.
