Infernal Diana vs Wildfire Zyra

It might just be me - but these two skins are too much alike. When I saw Infernal Diana on the news sites I immediately processed it as some sort of touch up to Wildfire Zyra. I actually scrolled past it three times before I realized it was actually Diana's new skin.

All the visual reads are the same - similar body type, almost identical hair shape, exposed shoulders and chest, similar skin coloration, extremely similar "armor"/clothing.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thought it was a Wildfire Zyra change.

Not sure what they can do to fix it, given that the two have nearly identical silhouettes.

Man I thought I was the only one. They were hyping us so much for this that it ended up flopping. The recall animation is meh for me as well. What they can do is to recolor the fire just like the latest brand skin. Honestly there are different fire colors.

This fire themed custom skin is way better imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqppYcBK49g

They were working too hard on those SKT skins. Too bad they're a flop as well.

Remember when Dark Valkyrie Diana look like Syndra before they remove Dark Diana's helmet.

Agreed, 2 years ago we were told if the only released Diana skin is "not our cup of tea" then wait for one in 6 months. 2 years later we get this ONLY because it won a popularity vote. Not buying. It looks like an intern very begrudgingly did 15 minutes of texture/colour work and called it a day. Absolutely no chance that I buy this.

The texture on her forehead gem/fire things are so low resolution you can count their pixels while fully zoomed out. It's distracting. Standard Riot quality I've come to expect.

I actually really like everything below the neck. That design looks slick.

The fire effect on the head is far too strong, though. Completely overpowers the design.

One is Dark Red, the other is Dark Orange....

I had my doubts about how the skin would turn out the moment I found out Team Fire won and Diana was getting the skin. Team Ice? Now that would have been super cool and easy for me to imagine and working with Diana's character.

it's not a bad skin, they did put a lot of work in it...but lots of things look and feel super awkward about it. :/ Some of the movements for her armor look awkward, like the "tail" of her suit, but otherwise the armor isn't bad.

I think they overdid the whole on-fire thing, especially with her hair/skin tone. She looks like a really angry fire/lava imp.

The skin also doesn't immediately scream "fire" to me; feels more aligned to lava.

Agreed, there should be a way to better distinguish between the two.

Diana does have her sword but in the heat of a team fight one may not have time to look for that small detail.

Flame themed skins are typically the most uncreative skins, they're just "X champion but ON FIRE!"

There was so much potential for going with something cool this time like a fire dancer or something.

well being color blind just got worst :-(

How do they let someone of the moon (which I've heard called cold, and silver is a cool color) have a fire themed skin while keeping all of her moon dialogue? How is her anti-joke about the sun burning people alive going to work if she's all fiery?

Losing Patients4/6/2016, 1:10:15 PM4 votes

I don't think the op was making a case for lack of creativity or quality. Seems more like a gameplay oriented complaint where champions look too much alike to tell them apart. It's the same as some others like Soul reaper draven - Kha'zix, and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head. When you attack one champ, thinking it's another in the heat of the moment, problems arise.

Wildfire Zyra was the first thing I thought of when I saw Di's new skin, actually!

SettDownShutUp4/6/2016, 8:27:21 PM3 votes

Yyyeaaah that's dangerously similar.

Kynami4/6/2016, 10:37:32 PM3 votes

Sadly they missed the chance to make a great fire themed Diana skin that still had a basis from things seen in the sky. Some cultures beheld auroras as spiritual fire. Not to mention that would have had a nice large color range to work with to avoid similarities...

Zesty Schnitzel4/6/2016, 3:17:59 PM3 votes

Glad I'm not the only one who instantly thought of the Zyra skin. I bought the Zyra bundle the day it was launched, and it looks like they're re-releasing it with a nice upgrade to the particles associated with the hair, clothing, etc.

Infernal Diana's pricing should be adjusted to 975 RP because there are other skins in that tier (say Arclight Vayne) that have a similar pricing while clearly putting the same if not more amount of effort.

Anonymousaur4/6/2016, 1:19:20 AM2 votes

It's kind of disappointing.

Sassmast3r4/6/2016, 11:54:57 PM2 votes

I can see where you're coming from, but I myself would argue the color scheme's are differing enough to the point of being distinguishable. Zyra's skin is much redder and brighter, whereas Diana's is more... molten, for lack of a better word. But now that screws a Zyra VU, because then they'll realize when they try to update that skin on her that it's going to look like the Diana one. I think they should both just have the same names to make it better. Infernal Zyra maybe? Seems like the easier choice to make since we actually have a skin line going for Infernal.

Jungle Lux God4/6/2016, 5:56:11 PM2 votes

While you can tell which one is which due to the color of the flames and the presence of Diana's blade, I do agree that they look too similar.

LordForrest4/6/2016, 7:39:33 AM2 votes

Yeah, i am not seeing it maybe on ultra low resolution they look similar, but there are clear differences between the two of them. I kinda like it, but i do feel that the Head needs some work, its just doesn't click with the rest of the model for me.

Primadonna4/6/2016, 4:50:34 AM1 votes

I was really hype for this skin but it was a miss for me. I might not buy it at all. Maybe in a few months when it goes on sale for 975 RP but definitely not at 1350 RP. The head is a mess, lol.

I've heard the same about Warden Sivir and Classic Diana. Maybe Diana just looks like the person you see everyday, everywhere.

Volcanic Wukong and Wildfire Zyra walk into the moon...

junglerboy164/6/2016, 1:51:15 PM1 votes

They said they were planning on a low tier VU for Zyra (colors in particular) when they launch the MYMU, so hopefully they'll fix it then.

All could have been avoided if we had just voted for Nautilus

SerBlaise4/6/2016, 11:02:03 PM1 votes

Diana main; I think the new skin leaves something to be desired. It's too uniform. Sounds are decent though.

LVL 5 PORO4/6/2016, 5:11:11 AM1 votes

Yeah, its too similar. I would not have made Diana's armor black. I would have went with White or Silver.
