That's because the Boards are full of self entitled grumps who live to complain to the Void.
The whole board blew up over Tristana's previous piece of artwork, and it has currently been removed and reworked into something better. How much better remains to be said, but at least they listened. Or, what I fear may be the case, they saw the backlash and felt this probably justified some of the their team's own misgivings about the older cartoony Tristana splash and they had the artist rework it. Let's hope it's the board's collective will, and not validation of their own uncertainty, that caused them to act.

How is Katarina iconic? I rarely ever see her anymore because she gets banned every single game.
Nah its not about katarina being iconic,its about katarina being a sexy chick. The boards also blew up when the Janna and the ahri splashes were changed and when they nerfed akalis sideboob.
Don't know about iconic but the new one just looks weird
