Okay, we currently have 130+ Champions. What kind of Champion would be a good and unqiue addition?

Artificial Human·6/7/2016, 7:01:00 PM·46 votes·8,465 views

Riots design policy is to make champions very unqiue and distinguished. They want to fulfill the fantasy of a champion for everyone who plays their game, so they keep releasing very different champions every year.

Even so, they surely didn't fulfill every fantasy of every player yet. So if you look at the whole roster, what is missing in your opinion?

Personally for me i always wanted to play a sheer-force-barehanded-fighter Champion. Yes we have Lee sin, Udyr and Vi, but they never quite hit the mark for me personally.

Vi's personality is obnoxious , as much as i tried coping with it and i can't even see the muscles on that brawler woman, why cant she have a buff body AND giant robo gauntlets, why does characters like her always have to look like they never touched a dumbbell in their life? A champion like her needs to make me think: "Wow what a powerful and strong woman". But instead it's just "....meh an average person with robo gauntlets that define her strength solely." So to me, IMHO, she doesnt really fulfill the fantasy she is supposed to fill.

Furthermore all the unarmed martial artist champions are mainly viable in the jungle only.

Whenever i see Malicious Metal's posts on these boards, i see a person who has found HIS champions, the passion is simply astounishing and so intense. I can't help but get envious, but also impressed for the effort he puts into his beloved champion. I have played League of Legends since Hecarims release (1st Quartal 2012), during that time a vast variety of champions was released. But at times, i feel like Riot tries to make champions too unqiue, prime examples are Tahm Kench, Illaoi and possibly Taliyah. Are they unique? Yes, but do they work in a healthy way in this game? No. Not every champion has to be an absolute supreme Hipster.

The roster should be filled with a vast variety of unique cool and distinguishable characters, not a Freak Show of champions that doesn't even make sense. A catfish-toad that licks people and takes them in his mouth, was so forced into this game that he doesn't even work properly and a cosmic dragon god that is lorewise so powerful that he can literally kill all the other champions with a flick of his finger and possibly even Runeterra itself. What's next? The creator of the universe or even existence, with the physical appearance of a gigantic cosmic bonobo monkey? Okay, i exaggerated, but hopefully you get the point.

What if we had a champion, perhaps ghoulish in nature, that could raise lesser ghouls to fight for them? That sounds like a great champion idea to me.

A female ascended.

Tank076/8/2016, 8:01:09 AM13 votes

Some ideas:

An Artifacier - a champion that got almost no combat skills on his own but instead he/she uses item's uses, on-hits as a main source of offensive/defensive power. Probably he/she should have some ability to reduce cd's of items and his own item that can be forged into different forms depending on a role you want to fill. I can see him/her as a hextech dude or more classy mage that got no magic power but he/she imitates it with tones of staves, wands, amulets and hats on top of other hats.

A Shield Tank - a tank that depends on shield generation to keep himself up. Imagine a champion that got only like 1/3 hp of other champions but is protected by 3k pts shield that he must keep up in order to do his job as a tank. His other abilities should focus around creating different kinds of force fields to protect his allies and disrupt enemies. Again I can see him as a hextech guy or a mage that devoted his life to study protective magic.

Crazier idea: A Copycat guy - a champion that have no abilities on his own, instead every time he pick his Q, W, E for the first time he can choose an skill from a list of skills of champions present in this game (e.g. if I pick my Q for the first time I can pick my Q from list of 9 Q's of champions present in this game). Also he can change one of his abilites every time he lvl up his ult. His ult can work like this: select a champion (u must see him/her) for next 15s you gain thier ultimate (with all ratios of selected champion), lvl ups reduce cd.

I've always wanted to see a old hag / witch champion, with one of those beak-like noses and a really exaggerated physique hidden under a robe. Like such an exaggerated physique that it's like a silhouette of a cartoon tree.

Merxamers6/7/2016, 8:44:52 PM12 votes

I'd like to see a swashbuckling hero, something like an Errol Flynn/Robin Hood/Zorro type. A bombastic personality, lighthearted character; i think this would be good for the game :)

Warlord Dienekes6/7/2016, 9:32:54 PM10 votes

Something that feels like a real commander. Technically both Nasus and Swain are supposedly generals but Nasus plays like a front line fighter and Swain is a weird bird mage. Azir I guess comes kinda close by virtue that Riot made his abilities look like soldiers, but he still really just plays like a mage with just an interesting visual.

I'd like something whose shtick is they're a relatively normal guy who can organize and enhance the other champions as a leader and bring them to victory. It'd be tough to do, since most times general style characters show up they're just given some pretty boring aura passives. But I think Riot could make it work.

How about a Minotaur ch-Alistar Oh. Uh...

How about a Chimera typed champion? http://www.aidedd.org/dnd/images/chimera.jpg

I mean come on look at how badass that is, also we do have a minotaur so it wouldn't be a bad idea to add a Chimera in, and COMON LOOK AT HOW BADASS IT IS, ITS A LITERAL COMBINATION OF THE 3 MOST BADASS ANIMALS. (Rip Dragons :l )

It could have its own unique spin to it but it would have to be a combination of 3 animal heads, and this could even give it a unique gameplay feature in which all skills are owned by each seperate head. Left-Q Middle-W Right-E and then all 3 of them can chime in for the Ult-R. It'd be pretty awesome and since Rito's tech gave us such things like Tahm and Aurelion it wouldn't be impossible to make for the game.

The heads could also strike up conversations with each other or have separate conversations, like a kindred sort of situation. If this sort of champion were to be added, I'd want it to have a strange sort of bad-guy but somewhat likable kind of personality shared within all three of the heads. Say one head might be a bit more lax, but still slightly evil, one being a bit more aggressive but still a bit kinder, and the last one being a mid point or just way different from the other two.

Honestly, i'm surprised Rito hasn't made a champion like this, i'd main it the moment it released.

(inb4 this turns out to be Rito's new champion)

Design wise, I'd like an actual witch in this game. And not some young, hot, rule 34-fuel one, a real witch with badass magic and an ugly, terrifying character. Yes, we have Lissandra, but even she has a rather beautiful appearance. I mean an honest to god WITCH. Maybe reading the new One Piece arc has gotten me more interested in that concept.

Personally, I already have my champion I'm passionate about, Swain, and I've been a fan of his since I started two years ago, but new and good designs are always great.

Erractic Eick6/7/2016, 11:45:33 PM7 votes

I really like Bard's shrine ability, so maybe a champion that does the same thing, only on a grander scale, like shrines of Attack Power, or Shrines of Healing, or Shrines of Temporary CC. Maybe a support Ascended who can make an Oasis, or something.

The ability to take objectives is a good champion path, but I feel like the ability to CREATE objectives is really ignored (except Skarner, kinda).

Valor Bot6/7/2016, 8:49:16 PM7 votes

I've been wanting a fan warrior Champion for some time. Not old Karma, but someone who actually uses their fans in close combat to overpower better-equipped foes. Maybe someone like Kyoshi?

  1. Something completely unheard of: a support champ that supports like an absolute beast, unlike any other support. Power like we've never seen before.

The trade off? No damage at all. Not even an auto attack. Yet, whoever they are supporting becomes a shockingly powerful force. This champion would completely rely on allies to use the buffs provided to succeed.

  1. Or how about an AP Mid or a Support champ that uses HP to cast powerful buffs? Not new, you say? Read on...

The trade off? The HP comes from the player receiving the powerful buff. The strength of the buff would be strong enough to justify the health lost, of course.

I know, I know.... ugh, supports champs? Whatever, it is what I thought of, lol.

I would love a tactician, (Swain does not count, he literally just charge in).

He could be some kind of global support (a good example would be Abathur from Hots).

An idea for a Champion I think would be cool is a champion that is like Nidalee and Jayce, with the switching melee and Ranged forms, but as the game goes on, one form gets stronger, and eventually picks one form to stay in and then gains an actual ultimate, loosing the ability to switch forms. Just me though, probably.

SkyblazeHydraX36/7/2016, 11:10:33 PM4 votes

Honestly, I'd like to see a tanky midlaner. Someone who shakes up the meta by giving you the option to send your beef into the midlane and still survive against the enemy mages and assassins, so playing squishier champions in top, jungle, or support doesn't come as much of a sacrifice.

gloomyMoron6/8/2016, 11:54:51 AM4 votes

I'd like to see a 'Totem' Champion. A champion who summons static objects that interact with each other and with the game space. Their totems could be on a Shared Ammo system (something league currently doesn't do), that makes you have to choose the right tool for the job. Using different totems together could produce slightly different effects or amplify effects (which ever plays better and lessens the burden of knowledge or has better visibility/'clarity'). The idea that has been kicking around in my head for ever is some sort of Native American/African hybrid Shaman/Witch Doctor Support/Mid. They'd have a Heal Totem that provides a heal on summon and then an AoE HP per second buff in an area around it. They'd have a Thunder Totem that, on its own, acts as a sort of tesla coil and sends out an electrical pulse every x seconds (my current thinking is something like 2/1.75/1.5/1.25/1s) unless in range of another Thunder Totem, in which case it forms a line of electricity between them that damages anything that crosses it (but does less damage than the pulse but makes up for it by being more consistent, perhaps the 'fence' also slows a target or something). I have a ton of ideas for the third ability and ult, but nothing firmly in mind so going into them wouldn't really help, but the idea is that the champion could produce permanent, though destructible, structures that interact with each other and provide a variety of play patterns/styles.

Refer A Friend 16/8/2016, 2:57:32 PM4 votes

As uninspired as this is going to sound, I would really love a champion with a ton of different weapons to use at once. Something similar to jinx but instead of quick abilities, they're all toggled so each has a different play style.

Azteryz6/9/2016, 12:27:54 AM3 votes

a cowboy

And i mean a legit cowbow with a revolver. right now the cowboy theme is so skewerd in league

Graves looks like a cowboy but without the personality and weapon TwistedFate looks and talks like a cowboy but without the weapon Jhin looks and sounds nothing like a cowboy but has the weapon

rito game(s) please just make a cowboy

the fact that tf and graves are basically mixed together in overwatch is beautiful it makes me an avid league player jealous

Thekingofavela6/8/2016, 12:32:34 PM3 votes

A generic soldier, seriously why there is no generic soldier in league? Someone with a smg, grenades and flash bangs.

Blood Magicks6/7/2016, 8:02:46 PM2 votes

I think Riot's doing quite well with the ethnic inspiration of champions and they should totally base a champion on Eastern European folklore. I don't have any specifics but I think it would be cute.

The Deckowner6/8/2016, 6:56:18 PM1 votes

We need a new champion who is not a god or cosmic figure, but instead closer to a human being. (too many gods recently, Aurelien sol, kindred, bard, etc.)
