Im very disappointed with the new "Hyena" skin

That skin is pretty decent and Riot has put a lot of work in it, but that's NOT Hyena Warwick. The new "hyena warwick" resembles twitch and has too much of a Mad max vibe, the laugh is ruined and cringe, the bloodhunt walking animation doesnt exist anymore and the googles do not look good on him.

It's like calling Thunderlord Volibear, Black bear Volibear or Northern Front Volibear, Grizzly Bear Volibear. The Hyena theme has to be, the core theme! The change of the skin really gets to me, really, the thing i'd love to do right now is rather go full Tyler1 on Riot. But that's not the way to go so i try my best to thoroughly explain why i feel that way about this skin.

Let me explain why i liked the old Hyena Warwick so much first.

This is how it was teased/announced, are you getting a real safari and/or african vibe yet? Look at the veins at his neck that's one brutish, indimidating but yet goofy (because of the tongue) Were-hyena.

Now look at his splash art, the skeletons, especially the elephant one and the savannah background. It's just awesome and because of it i thought of this skin as Hyena and african themed. Now it's just australian mad max.

The appeals of that skin:

  • Blood Scent walking animation
  • Theme (Hyena, Savannah)
  • Laugh animation
  • Larger arms and longer claws than other skins

I mean c'mon, i dont want to be biased, but Riot really seems to ruin the best skin in a visual update every single time. How is the transition from old to new even acceptable when following the theme of **"HYENA" ** , not Junkyard, not Vandal, not Mad Max.

Why not do a visual rework starting with this concept:

This skin has lost all it's previous appeal to me and i dont want to get this change shoved down my throat, like the way it's usually done.

TL;DR Mad Max Warwick is not Hyena Warwick. Blood scent walking animation gone Awesome laugh audio and animation gone African Savannah Hyena theme gone

New Hyena Warwick has a worse laugh. The Hyena theme is overshadowed by a strong Mad Max/Junkyard theme. He resembles twitch too much.

I think taking those dumb eyeglasses away would already be a huge improvement, as he would no longer look so much like Twitch.

I'm also going to miss the maniacal laughter during his attacks....

If Riot was honest, they'd allow us a refund.

I see your point here in that he went from being a more feral, goofy hyena to a Mad Max themed biker dog. However, what you want to also think about is the overall change they have made to Warwick. He has gone from being more animalistic werewolf to one who is heavily influenced by machinery and science. The incorporation of the engine in his back, in my opinion, was an awesome idea that brought some of the old Hyena WW to the new skin, especially if you see how the people in Mad Max behave. On the long arms, I believe part of that was to because WW had very little things you could do to his model that you could reasonably change without going to crazy. Now that he has the injectors in his back, he has much more to work with but I don't know for sure.

That being said, I don't know much about the laughter or the walk it's but I feel like they can add that back to his movement animations. Remember, this is still in PBE so there might be more changes before release.

The aspect of having something on his back is now part of his core design and should be kept consistent in his character model to distinguish WW within the game. Again I understand the frustration, but instead of just saying you don't like something and want it back to the way it was, suggest ways to compromise.

For instance, you said you don't like that its not the original Hyena theme. Instead, suggest they change the name to more accurately represent the new skin. You don't like the engine, suggest they change it to something else. I'm not saying Riot is correct always I'm saying there are more constructive ways to help them than saying you don't like something. I think this is much more of reasonable request, right?

Hi guys, here is my opinion on what the visual rework team should consider to re-remake the visual for this HYENA skin. This is ONLY my opinion and I hope that you will take this post more as a SUGGESTION than as a " I don't like this skin"( even though i'm a little disappointed i have to admit.).

This is the comparison of the two models. 1) As you can notice, the old model's head is WAY more " compact " than the new one, and changing that could bring a great difference between an old school hyena WW with a "bulldog: short/fierce/without-fur-around-like-i-lion-OR-MORE-LIKE-A-VANDAL-TWITCH-head" and a VANDAL-TWITCH-weird-soulless head. Furthermore, his muzzle was way darker, a contrast to his skin that reflected the red eyes and empowered his ferocity, as well a the ability to laugh at you with a creepy face that freaks you out.

i believe that the** yellowish** color or the fur of the HYENA was really appreciated by the owners of the skin Maybe add some brightness to the rework model and that will look cooler. 3) I , PERSONALLY, ( and as much as i read throughout the different posts about this skin, like many others) don't like the "goofy" googles. In fact with this addition riot added a "funny-looking/BIKER/vandal-themed/MAD MAX" look to a skin that formerly inspired ferocity/fear (with those creepy red eyes) Indeed, i don't forget the "laugh" part of the skin but to me, this part of his personality (in this skin) could only pleases people because of how creepy he was looking. Now that he looks** like a RAT** the "laugh" part is kind of useless. NOTICE that i'm not complaining about the motor engine at his back as i believe the rework WW must have something to boost his capacity in rage/blood hunter mode. Indeed the mad max concept was not totally wrong in this way (what else could you put on his back to fit the HYENA theme huh ? ). 4) One last thing, i think that this skin deserve to have wayyy larger claws as one of the major difference between his old skin model and the old model was the size of the claws.

And I guess that's it. If you have any reply, I will be happy to see your point of view.

Everyone has their own opinion on it. Some love it, some hate it. While I do wish his Q would get a laugh back, I don't think they should change it.

The skin could use a little more overhaul on the effects. I'm disappointed at the fact that the engine doesn't roar as you use your ultimate or vrooms as you move faster. At least we still hear the laughs
