Are you guys planning to release a Janna skin any soon? It's been 3 years since forecast Janna came out and my options are pretty limited, i really want to spend money on something fresh for her.

WCS skins don't count towards a champion's priority in getting skins.

It was just a small touch up because of the mage roster update,not a full rework,its basically just a band aid for the meantime.

Reav3 was specifically talking about VGUs in that post.

Okay, time to explain something to you. The champs currently on the list are Ryze, Yorick and Warwick last time I checked. So they will not be getting any skins until they done. The "list" you showed are ones they would do in future, but does not mean Swain won't get a skin now because of that. Dr. Mundo was on that "list" and he just got a 1350 skin. So don't be a moron and tell people Swain won't get a skin.

These 3 are the next ones to get their VGUs. But the ones on this list are the ones that will come afterwards.

And we don't know when Mundo got to that list,he might have been added rather recently,when his new skin was almost finished(he does mention below that they might add Kennen for example to this list as well).

...in theory.

In practice, WCS skins have counted as a champion's skin in the priority queue. (see SSW Talon for the most egregious example).

To be fair, that is a legacy skin. Plus that came out nearly 2 years ago anyway, so it has been a while since she got one.

I feel you. Ma main Swain won't get a VU anytime soon and it's been 4 years. Then we see Gnar and Draven getting so many skins so often. Janna has some really cool concepts too.

Five years since his two launch skins were released... And no new skins on the company's radar for at least a year after the rework.

Yorick was never on the skin list because they realized too little, too late how monstrously bad he was in terms of kit design. Over the years they've said he's been in and out and in and out of the rework team's work load because they said they never have been able to preserve his playstyle and modernize him. This is why it took having the dedicated relaunch teams that worked on Sion/Poppy available before they were finally able to make progress on pushing him through. The fact that he's been publicly announced and plunked on the Update schedule page means he's very very far in development, if not nearing completion.

We don't announce if a champion is getting a skin or not in advance because we swap things around internally, and sometimes, a skin just doesn't work out. Like, you'd be pretty bummed out if I said there was a new Janna skin coming out, and it's going to be Surprise Party themed, then the idea just doesn't work, so we scrap it. D:

Does the skins team ever sit down and think "We need to make a skin for so-and-so," then just keep iterating on designs until one works? Or is it typically "here's a theme, and here are the champions that come to mind first for this theme"?

Generally, we work on themes. As you've seen this year, most patches have a group of skins as a thematic, as opposed to just one offs. It's more fun to play as a group who has the game skins - like PROJECT or Pool Party!

But yes, we do have ideations for a particular champion. We did something like that with Fizz, for example. We got in a room and tossed out ideas for what a new Fizz skin would look like. Fun fact, Cottontail Fizz was Riot LoveStrut's shower thought. :P

Oh man, i just had a great idea for a Janna skin! Disco Queen Janna! When she does the spin for her Q it can be in a sort of disco style, the actual tornado can be tye-dye colors, and her ult can be a giant dance floor with all of the multi-colored squares!
