The people asking for “ugly” female characters are getting old

Ever since Kai’sa released there’s been a rise in people asking riot to make female characters that are somewhat no appealing to the eye. The whole idea is that league need more diverse character instead of another good looking guy or girl. But I fail to see how they expect riot to go through with the request given how we treat characters like Illaio. She has a play rate or around 1.85% while Lux has a play rate of 4.44%. Why would riot even bother making a somewhat “ugly” Champ if you guys don’t even plan on playing her. Remember riot is a company and makes money off of skins. Why make a champ that no one will play of but skins for? If you’re gonna ask for a champion to add diversity at least play and buy the skins. This is the exact same problem with people complaining about unnecessary petitions for characters who have different sexual orientations cause we need “diversity” that majority of the boards also agree is stupid. If you want more ugly character than buy the skins of characters like illaio of Grages.

I want one just for the novelty, an old lady champion would full a witch thematic plenty fine to fill my apetite for it

Most people aren't asking the extreme. People just want something that is not the Syndra, Kaisa. People want something new. It's simple.

Because not EVERY SINGLE CHAMPION EVER has to be a gold shitting goose. They've made a ton of champions who are hot sellers, like Ahri, Ezreal, and Lux, even Kai'Sa in recent years. They also specifically stated before Illaoi's launch that they'd be moving towards making females more diverse, as they've been in a rut by making them "pretty girls" and whathaveyou. That lasted for Kalista and Camille, and I guess technically Yuumi, and Neeko straddles that line. Xayah and Kai'Sa were snap backs to that old design they stated they were trying to move away from, as is Qiyana - and a bigger issue, that is also notable with Kai'Sa, is that their perfect beauty doesn't make an ounce of sense given where these people hail from. I'll give Xayah a pass since she's a magical bird, but Kai'Sa and Qiyana BOTH hail from regions that aren't the most forgiving or even tolerable to makeup or perfect hair, yet it appears both of these women have managed to weather the terrors of the night, the lack of proper hair care and makeup, humidity, living butt to butt with the wilderness, tromping through the trees, etc., etc., and walk away looking like they've spent hours perfectly maintaining their looks. It doesn't make any sense.

Furthermore, we've got buckets of girls like Kai'Sa and Qiyana. We don't have an old granny character, or any kind of terrifying character like that one lady chembaron who was a hulk because of her mechanical limbs. So while yes, pretty people sell, we've got enough of them, and as has been proven with Kench and Urgot, fat an ugly can be just as popular if their kits are fun and entertaining.

Okay but before we decide that all unconventional female champions are unsalvageable can we please get more than one in this 120+ rooster? Like, me personally I'd love to play more champions like Illaoi who posess a completely different figure from all other female champions like Grena did in Warmother, an old lady in one of the harshest environments in Runeterra and still able to smack younger warriors around like its a game. I'd love to play someone like that.

Diverse doesn’t equal ugly. You don’t need to make an old or overweight or hideous or gross character in oder to not make them look like Kaisa or Irelia. Jinx for example is fairly popular even though she neither has the booty and the boobs nor the Instagram-babe face. I personally don’t complain that Riot’s champions are generally attractive (yes, I’m not ashamed to admit that I like eye candy) nowadays but there’s a whole spectrum of features between “attractive” and “unattractive”. You don’t need to complete 100% of the “attractive checklist” in order to make a character appealing to the masses. Let’s say you line up 50 rl people who are generally seen as attractive. I’m pretty sure they will not look like clones with different hairstyles/clothes but will have different noses, eyes, lips, bodies, jawlines etc. In order for a character to be attractive and popular he/she doesn’t have to be 100% perfect.

Illaoi and Taliyah also have out there kits that arent like anyone elses in the game. I HAVE tried playing Illaoi , shes extremely difficult for me. Taliyahs in the same boat with her environmental manipulation. Theyre not fun mages or adc, of course they're not going to have high play rates. This is also Riot Games . This is not some small indie game that needs supporting on every level. They can make champions look different without worrying if it'll put them under instead of making babe after babe. Theyre honestly exhausting how many babe types there are out there. They're going to HAVE to make something thats not just a pretty face and hyperthin waist eventually.

They aren't asking for UGLY characters. They are asking for Slightly more realistical characters. How come.Kaisa, who spent her whole damn life on the void,know how to speak english properly and her face looks like she been there for just a visit? How come,Urgot,looks badass,instead of a chimical abomination?Yes badass can look abominable,but there,they just tried to make urgot cool

Illaoi is probably one of my favorite champions, the only I wouldn't play her is because she doesn't feel good to play at the moment.

Why does it matter what other people want? Shouldn’t your own desires satisfy you enough? I think people just want more variety in the roster. Sexuality and beauty are important facets of the female experience - but so are a lot of other things. Why don’t we explore those other facets?

let's get the medicine woman on here from the Simpsons movie. Giant breasts which she can fling around like fried eggs hanging on nails. Good for a...idk. pool party skin for riot's bank. Imagine the cringe on the loading screen....IMAGINE IT. Super old lady, so those people crying for an old lady champion can have their old lady champion and go be an activist for something else.

For lore we can make her Nunu's long lost grandmother being an Eskimo and such.

Illaoi is unattractive, at least for me. Qiyana on the other hand is ugly. There's a distinct difference. And I'm guessing there might be a difference between Qiyana's ugliness and whatever people want out of a new female champion?

Camille: creepy and robotic. Taliyah: unattractive, NGL looks like Disney's Aladdin had a sex change. Neeko: lean beast.

We have plenty of non-pretty females in the latest champion releases IMO. Would have been nice if this one was pretty, but I'm not going to cry about it. For a beast, Neeko was cute, but that doesn't translate to sex appeal for just being cute.

There is no problem, you're just whining because you don't personally want it and you'd prefer them continue making waifu designs and I guess because you're uncomfortable with gay people.

There is no problem with players wanting Riot to diversify their designs. Homogenization in designs is inherently boring and bad, even if normies brainlessly eat them up.

Look at other games instead of just League. Ana from Overwatch is an old woman who most would not find attractive these days, but is the highest pick rate hero in the game. You bring up Illaoi and Taliyah's apparently bad play rates.

There's no reason this couldn't be the case with an old lady character in League.

Would be cool to have one genuinely unattractive female champion, rather than one or two who are just plain.

I understand they probably won't sell well as a Lux, but it's an untapped market, and 'attractive girl ~100lbs with hourglass figure' is well saturated in League's roster.

I think a lot of people are also fine just having a different sort of 'attractive' being on display, more shapes and unique features.

We have shapes as varied as Ezreal to Gragas for males, with most of them being attractive and well-represented. As for the shapes of females, we have hourglass figures 1--77 for females, who look very much the same, with the rare exception.

Neeko is attractive, but she has a lot of uniqueness to her. Same goes with Taliyah. It is possible that I'm just missing all the posts, but the criticism against them seems to be faint-to-nonexistent.

Also, why include this line even in your post?
