Black Rose Questions

Hello again, you guys may have noticed that I mostly talk about LeBlanc and the Black Rose because this organization is my favorite part of Noxus lore. I have a few questions about it and I'd like to know what you guys think.

What kind of magic does the Black Rose really possess? We usually have this instant assumption that ''Oh, this type of group is an evil one therefore they most likely have Black Magic.'' So far, we have only seen Tricks, Illusions, Deception etc. but does that really mean it is Black Magic? If Vayne is against people who have Black Magic like Morgana andSyndra or who are plain evil in general like Veigar then why is she investigating Leblanc and the Black Rose out of all those champions who actually uses Black Magic? Did something really happen between Vayne and LeBlanc? Did Vayne encounter the first LeBlanc?

What does it take to be part of the Black Rose? Do you have to be a mage? an assassin?

How does one be identified as a Black Rose member? Do they wear like a badge of some sort? Do they have their own crest or banner?

Does the Black Rose have its own fortress? or is it the whole Noxus?

I also think it would be interesting if we get a champion that has been a member of the Black Rose but as a traitor and thus the champion uses his/her knowledge of the Black Rose's power against the other members.

What do you guys think about the Black Rose in general? Any other additions? And I'm sorry if it might not make sense but I'm just glad and happy to be able to talk about the Black Rose again :)

Black magic is a very, very large spectrum that covers a copious amount of possible fields. Generally speaking, tricks, illusions and deception are not particularly black magic. (They can be, but not really in the forms we've been seeing so far.) If I had to put a label on the Black Roses brand of magic it'd be deception, but most certainly not black magic. (Also, for reference, Syndra does not use Black Magic, it's generally presumed that she uses sheer magic energy!)

If I had to guess, I'd say they'd have to be a semi hybrid of the two, mixing deception and espionage with the ability to kill. The best thing I can imagine is the Mesmer from Guild Wars 2 if you are familiar with it. However, I don't think they'd take in anyone off the street or any common killer or spy, you'd have to display a large capacity for what the Black Rose is attempting to do.

I don't think they do, that's the point, especially since their fall from power. I think the common person knew them as a name, not as a group or person/people while they were in power. An organization dedicated to espionage and manipulation wouldn't want to be identified.

According to her lore the Black Rose makes its home in the catacombs of Noxus among plenty of other cults, covens, and secret societies. Whether or not this has changed since they emerged from secrecy is unknown, although I don't think they would.

(Keep in mind this is all my personal interpretation, none of this except for the Black Rose base is canon!)

Thank you for taking the time to talk and take interest for the Black Rose. I do hope Riot has something in stored for this group of mysterious mages and sorcerers/sorceresses. However the Black Rose still has huge ties with the Institute of War and the League so I'm really terrified that something bad might happen with the story. :(

But then again I'm glad that the Black Rose took part for the Sion Relaunch which means they are keeping the Black Rose. This leads me to the Black Rose giving their assistance and using necromancy as one of their powers perhaps?

Necromancy doesn't particularly suit the Black Rose, I doubt that anyone in the Black Rose just casually knows enough necromancy to resurrect Sion either. The Black Rose probably has connections throughout the catacombs, which as I stated earlier are home to a lot of... Eccentric people. It wouldn't surprise me if they knew a Necromancy cult that they called upon.

For some reason Elise is in alliance with LeBlanc. That is a really far but more suiting connection like from Noxus to Shadow Isles. But having a relationship like that, what kind of assistance does Elise offer then? What kind of magic does she contribute? It's neither deception nor necromancy but something more.... ooooooooh.

Interestingly Elise's skin ''Death Blossom'' really suits with the Black Rose doesn't it? Now I am craving for a Death Blossom LeBlanc skin and it even sounds nice don't you think?

So.. i guess that "MAGICAL BLACK ARTS" arent magic black.

I don't really think that you could describe the Black Rose with only one kind of magic. Consider this, the Black Rose is first and foremost a secret society, as such i think that they would use anything they can get their hands on. So, to answer your question, the Black Rose doesn't use any particular magic, but more likely a collection of any kind of magic they can use to their cause, be it illusion, Hemomancy, Necromancy or anything else.

I got an idea out of your statement that can be an interesting addition to the Black Rose. This is a bit long but it may go somewhere. It is similar to Kayle and Morgana but they aren't really what they call ''Good vs Bad'' as there has been quite the debate between the two lately. I think it suits more for Leblanc only she revolves around group and not individually. This might be the one where we can finally have ''The Good and Evil'' thing in League.

So it sounds like the Black Rose is all about power and magic, but they are the ones that use it for their own benefit. Then enter their counterpart (I don't want to call it White Rose) maybe White Lotus? Hence Order of the Lotus (Wait a minute I didn't have this idea before it just jumped right in) (Maybe have it Order of the Black Rose vs Order of the Lotus?) (Ionia's mages where Karma is the leader? vs Leblanc 's Black Rose mages?)

So let's just have Order of the Lotus as a placeholder counterpart. They are the ones who uses (or have) power and magic, but they don't just use it to benefit from it, only when they need to.

Then there is this book that appeared out of nowhere that say (next mage champion from the two) found filled with powerful and maybe even forbidden magic. Then depending on who the champion is allied to, he/she will either use it for the good or the bad.

Now they are fighting over the book and who gets to keep it. The two clearly have different intentions for it.

Also, from there, now we get to see all sorts of interesting character development and role that will serve purpose for either groups.

I know this might be silly and too complicated but there are some ideas that I think is worth mentioning :)

I have the same question... why she is enemy of Warwick? He has no relation with dark magics at all.

Warwick did steal steel (lel) from the Shadow Isles, and everything from that forlorn abysm is bound to be cursed. He was also a Zaunite experimenter, tried to take the heart of a celestial being, and is now a furry menace.

Vayne's basically Van Helsing, and I think it fits that she doesn't just hunt dark magi, but corrupted beasts and monsters too.

i guess that it makes sense...

the black rose does not have any particular magic type as it is really just a group of mage spy/assassins, but deception is obviously the best because of what they are doing (probably)
