Targon Aspect Theory

I know that we're all excited about the incoming Piltover lore stuff, but I had a thought a while back; check my thinking here.

-We know that Aurelion Sol has come to Runeterra because he senses a way to free himself from his shackles on this world. He's able to do this because the bonds Targon placed on him are weakening from some great disaster. From Aurelion Sol's page: > The voices from the crown grew sporadic, clashing, arguing with each other while some fell ominously silent. An unknown catastrophe he could not fathom had thrown off the balance of those who bound him.

In addition, Runeterra was conquered by Targon, so it is NOT the Targonian homeworld, but it is where the Targonians first bound Aurelion Sol. See Aurelion's page again: >They are so scattered across the globe and grasp so blindly for any sort of understanding that it’s no surprise they’ve been conquered and don’t even comprehend their predicament. >Driven by the tantalizing possibility of impending freedom, Aurelion Sol arrives on the world where it all began: Runeterra.

-We know that this period in history is an alarming one to the Targonians because several aspects have manifested at once, which is apparently a very unusual occurrence. From the Mount Targon page: > "It is incredibly unusual for more than a single Aspect to walk the earth of Runeterra at any given time, so the tales of several Aspects manifesting has spread a pall of fear and uncertainty around the mountain. For what threat might be arising that requires the power of so many powerful beings to fight?"

-The different aspects seem to have different goals and aspirations. Taric wants to protect all life, particularly the rare and precious, a la that last flower of its kind in his story. Diana is actively seeking out void rifts at night and shutting them. Leona is seeking out Diana for a very important reason (bow chicka bow wow). Pantheon seems to have arrived specifically because Aurelion Sol has come, and was also the one holding the leash in the celestial dragon's story. While (as far as we can tell) none of them actively oppose each other (with the possible exception of Leona and Diana, though until they meet we have no way of knowing for sure) none of them work together.

-The Solari destroyed the Lunari, even though both have Aspects with power that prove they're not heretics. An odd move for a unified interstellar empire.

-Diana's ability to seal void rifts using impossibly ancient magic implies that the Targonian aspect that empowers her has known of the void for a long time, and has likely fought it for a long time. One of the previous Pantheons (presumably the last one) was killed by Aurelion Sol as the latter sealed such a rift.

The immediately obvious implication is that Runeterra is not the only place in the universe the Void is breaking into, and that the Targonians are in the midst of a major war with the Void, one that has continued for generations (Remember, by the time Aurelion Sol killed the old pantheon, he'd been enslaved for long enough that many stars died just from lack of maitenance, and then enough time passed for another Pantheon to be crowned). Aurelion's shackles have loosened because the voices in his head (presumably the aspects, or whatever commands Targon) have begun to argue and bicker to the degree that they've lost track of the literal forger of the galaxy, implying that the war isn't going well.

So... why are multiple aspects here, now? We already established this world is important given it was where Targon shackled Aurelion Sol; If the war were at its worst on Runeterra (which seems incredibly unlikely, given that most on Runeterra aren't even aware the void is a threat) then the absolute last thing Aurelion Sol would do would be to come here. It would draw Targon's attention right to him at a time when his bonds were weakening.

My answer (and check my thinking on this): Targon isn't just in a war with the Void; it's entering a galactic civil war, with Runeterra at the center.

The way I see it, the Aspects represent different ideas and factions within the Targonian Empire. It's evident that the Protector gave its powers to Taric for different reasons than, say, Pantheon gave its strength to Alrek. Generally only one came to Runeterra before now because only one was needed; the Aspects are evidently very powerful and the Void rifts have been manageable up to this point.

However, the factions that the Aspects represent are entering a more open conflict, and so have sent their aspects to secure Runeterra (which we know is important, because it holds the key to releasing Aurelion Sol and probably other dark secrets) for their particular piece of the Empire. It would essentially set each of the aspects against each other to some extent, and we already know that the Solari and Lunari fought long ago.

Thoughts? I didn't proofread myself much and I'm sure I missed some points both for and against this theory.
