Because Rito is afraid to love monster girls and turns them human in every skin. Look at Evelynn since her rework, she literally is white is every single skin now. It's kind of distasteful to be honest.

Oh my god, you can't just ask why Soraka is white!

Because Frozen. Because Elsa.

she looks just like a snow princess from an old russian folk tale! I'm actually really happy because it fits the christmas theme so well

This new Soraka skin is obviously based on a Nordic or Russian Princess. Can any of y'all tell me what colour skin people from that part of the world have? White

Err.. "Caucasian"

I'm guessing because this round of Snowdown skins is more or less a direct reference to the Nutcracker (I mean, Rat King, anyone?)...

I don't think the Winter Wonder skins are Nordic in origin.

They're inspired by The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, which are popular ballets from Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky that were based on Russian and German folktales. Russia is a massive region, and the term "white" could mean a variety of things because it is an ever-changing social construct that has only existed for short period.

However, the princess archetype from folktales in this region often depict women with fair skin because the Russian Empire had a feudal system similar to many regions. Peasants would work out in the field and develop a tan while the nobility would stay indoors, and thus remain fair. Therefore, skin tone in these regions was directly connected to class even though in Russia and Eastern Europe that ideal exist anymore.

Soraka has always been depicted with fair skin by the artists in her human form, even before the Star Guardian release. Although, I don't blame you for not noticing. The Divine Skin from 2010 is lackluster.

That being said, I do wish they did a different hair color. That bright yellow blonde wouldn't be my first choice, but her chromas look much better.

One thing is for sure, Soraka is in desperate need of a lore update.

Her skin is purple... I mean if she were to have more human skin she could either be tan or light skin being as she isn´t a dark purple... Same with eve her skin is a light purple as well... Neither of them have very dark shades or hues in their skin tone.

so being white is a social construct

What it means to be white has changed so much in the short time the term has existed. Society still argues today about what it means to be a certain race.

The concept of race is entirely made up, just like the folktales that inspired the Winter Wonder skins. We've come full circle.
