Two years

It's been two years now, since one of my favorite characters was removed. Patch 3.6, 30th of april 2013.

Removed to make way for a new one, with a different character, origin, story, so that this new one had a kit to go with him in the game. Never heard anything about this new one anymore either. Doesn't matter, can't really care for a replacement. Only remind me of the old, what was, what could have been.

Two years since last I played him with an appropriate rig and selection quote, but the same outdated look and VO. Since then, Riot has attended more old characters: Xerath got his main motivation and modus operandi changed. Sion became bad-ass. Sejuani went from 'traditional' to simply 'warlike'. Perhaps I missed some here, though I won't mention the champions that have no lore and or got newly released.

I made this thread simply because I miss the old Trundle. I would've loved to get more stories about him, to be able to buy an awesome skin for him and to see his VO updated. Now I'm stuck with only his old lore, traditional skin and outdated VO.

If you disagree with me that they are different characters, the simplest way is to compare their voice-overs. The old one was bitter, sadistic and cynical. The new one is power-hungry, sadistic and brutish.

So, what're your thoughts on Riot changing/removing characters from the retcon?

Yeah, they removed a champion and everybody cried...

But when they removed my favorite dragon no one cared... Ebonmaw and the old Twisted Treeline, we know that they are better than a spider.

The real Trundle lives on in our hearts. The new one isn't a bad character, but old Trundle was unique. Riot's retcons usually mean nothing to me. Unless Riot does something to really amp up the current no-focus lore, I'll continue acting as if the League of Legends is canon.

Frankly? Is all up to yourself. I liked the Trundle retcon because old Trundle was born shelved and dead: it' s an evil for the greater good. Personally i see the old Trundle in the new one in everything, as almost as if he was just born in a different place ( and this can be discussed but it was already and already and already done to boredom, just know that for me it is and if you think otherwise it' s fine too) and the other retcons are done in an excellent way, both in quality and fidelty, with Karma being the only exception ( and i dearly hope they learned from that).

My point is: they are doing well. It is no perfect but is done with a scope, a reason and with fidelty. Sion has his silly moments but it would not coexist a version fully comical of him, Xerath was already explained to death that has other points of view and meanings that even if does not coincide word by word with his old lore retain the same meaning and put him in an interactive context, Trundle was brutal and cocky before and is now ( yes it was, oh hell it was) BUT, in the very end, if you think otherwise i don' t think you are wrong. Because i repeat, in the end is always up to yourself.

Old Trundle was disgusting. No offense to old Trundle lovers.

Zac "move over pal"

still has only 1 skin. one skin Might be rare, but trundle has 4 (albeit not that well in the communities eyes), but still 4

Old trundle was good and all, but the new Trundle is so much better. "The Troll with the biggest club gets to be king! That's the rules!"
