Splash Art Unification does not mean that those splashes will not be further updated... Right?

I am reading feedback from multiple servers, multiple forums, etc... and people are really disturbed with the splash unification process happening. A lot of people are not satisfied, and think things should be left as they are until Riot could do a quality work on those arts... But I just wanted to genuinely ask about the purpose of the unification in general. I want some Clarity (trademark).

As I understand it... it is the same thing that happened in 2014-15 splash art updates? They are placeholders until Riot will start working on splashes champ-by-champ? Or is it a permanent solution unless a complete VU is happening for a certain champ?

My own opinion is pretty mixed, but it is more negative than positive. Most arts are really misshaped and are even worse than before (why do you want to kill Groovy Zilean for me?!! What's going on with shapes and looks on Janna, Kayle, Karma, Amumu, Corki, Evelynn, Caitlyn, SINFUL SUCCULENCE MORGANA OMFG), and a bit of them are awesome (like, new divine Soraka. Bandit Sivir, Hecarim, Vladimir, Lee Sin, Infernal Wu!, Akali, Irelia, Shyvana and Renegade Talon)

Once again, I am asking about the purpose of this and not just crying to LET EVERYTHIGN BE AS IT IS OR I AM GONNA UNSUB NEVER BUY RP ADKASOPIDAPODIWDPOAIWDPOAWPDADIO... even though I really don't like some of those.

Nope! We are currently working on New Nidalee, Trundle & Tristana Skin Splashes, as well as a bunch of other Base & Skin Splashes that we had 80-90% complete. Expect to see some of those popping up in the near(ish) future.

Sion should be next after Nid/Trist/Trundle. It might be a little ways off since some of the current VGUs we have planned, like Ryze for example, have a lot of skins!

That feels a little unfair since he was one of the first VGU's. But I understand that some things take priority.

Well to be fair Trundle was a pretty huge update from an art standpoint so his splash art doesn't even come close to what his skins are actually like, Trist has some god awful splash art and Nidalee was the first champion to get a VU who didn't get updated splash art on all her skins, unlike Katarina and Ashe before her, so the choices, while perhaps a bit unfair to Sion, are still pretty fair considering these three are among the worst offenders.

I'm pretty biased too; I love Sion to death, but patience is a virtue friend, even in the dire times of updated splash arts.

How are you prioritizing or ordering the champs who need an updated splash arts?

I'm curious because Karma Karma got a full rework in 2013 and probably need 3 splash arts that needs be updated (Sun Goddess, Sakura and Traditional) and yet, you picked Trist, who only got a VU last year and has more skins than her.

afaik it's pretty much a case of at the start it's individual champs and all their splashes that need updates, and after that whoever gets done first.

I don't know if you're allowed to give an answer or if you even could if you wanted to, but I'll ask anyway. Do you have a sort of broad time frame for when these updates will happen? Is it something that we'll start seeing in a couple months, or hopefully sometime this year, or a few years from now? I don't know what sort of time scale you guys are planning.

Do you know if Lux is getting the NA splashes on her skins or the chinese splashes? Was wondering why hers got glossed over, when some are pretty old, and might be seen as better (such as spell thief).

Yeah I'm mostly upset that Asylum Shaco's splash art lost his background to like a weird blue smoke, and Workshop Shaco lost the atmosphere it once had. I know it's silly but Asylum Shaco was the first skin I bought back in s2 and it was definitly for his awesome splash. (Seeing as how the model is completely different XD) So seeing it lose some aspects of him actually making his grand escape out of the asylum made it lose... The fantasy maybe? It's weird seeing as how most people don't really notice the skins other people have to begin with anyway. This feeling more or less came from the fact that popular champions will have more attention than unpopular champions. Champions like Lee sin can avoid a rework by having a dedictated and larger fan base than some of the less popular champions such as (for my standpoint) Shaco. Or how Night Raven Fiora was able to dodge a bullet because of reddit, yet my champion and my favorite skin doesn't have a chance. Not that I'm saying that riot doesn't care for his fans. They iceboxed his rework because it didn't feel like him anymore and I'm grateful for that. (As much as I joke about it) It's just that his recent splash changes probably won't be reverted and it hurts me to see those unique splash arts to go away.

Why are you updating Goth Annie splash art when you said that you wont be touching newer acceptable splash arts? Goth Annie splash art was fine as it was and was closer to what the in-game model looked like, please reconsider reverting your decision with that one because a lot of people are upset about that one.

Sorry but the Champion Update team is not handling the unification process. We are however handling the Skin Splash updates which is a whole different thing from the unification process. I'm not really close to that process so I'm the wrong person to answer questions about it, sorry. :(

Understandable, but could you poke some of those guys to check the boards. There is a lot of critique on some of those choices and it's not just change aversion or oppinion, most people agree which changes are goo and which aren't.

Are we ever gonna get to see that new Irelia splash we were teased with in the lcs since 2014 or is her getting the classic chinese splash art the death knell of that dream?

Yes they are not meant to be permanent,they even said so in the patch-notes.

Like last year’s Mass Texture Rebalances, this is not a replacement for full-scale splash updates down the road, just a short term solution to solve a specific problem.

Yeah, I'm not happy with this unification stuff. Like 70% of the splash changes are worse than the ones we have now. Good to know it's not permanent, but I wish they just wouldn't do it in the first place.

While some of these unification splashes are OK, a lot of them aren't very good. Some look older and a bit less quality than the current ones in NA. I do like the fact that some skins are being slightly tweaked, but some of them are receiving massive changes which a lot of the community aren't really appreciating. I personally feel that these unification splashes are becoming a bit too anime/manga-like. I know that some of these are from Asian regions, but I still feel that these splashes should be distinct in their art style.

That one's been said over and over and over again. Already VUed champions are getting their splashes updated. The question is with the likes of Rammus, who has not and won't for a while receive any VU
