With Zoe, Swain, and now Fiddlesticks. We've been hyping the void becoming more and more of a threat with Vel'koz and Kai'sa.
So when is the actual "threat" going to hit Runeterra?
(I'm not deeply involved in the lore so sorry if I missed any champions outside of those five.)
Aurelion Sol lore is also teasing that. So it's been even longer than you think...
It's the kind of lose threads they wanna keep going for years or else we would lose a story or champ importances in the lore.
Senna is a good example, saving her would have solved Lucian storyline but now they go on together to kill the ruined king (which is confirmed ''alive'' in the shadow isles somewhere and thresh will surely stop them). Of course the mist ''being gone'' would mean all Shadow isles champs will be deleted, so they can't go and solve that. Might take another few years before we see the ruined king on the rift...
The void will probably be the same. There will be a big event with a Watcher becoming a champ or what we called '' Kog'maw's Daddy '', but they will find a way around so that it doesn't really resolve anything just to keep the story going.
Look at Azir, since Taliyah's release, nothing happened over there since he became emperor. They take it really slow and drop a bomb once in a while to keep us going but don'T expect a resolution or a huge event for a while :/. The void and Shurima are loooooooooooong overdue for something big to happen. Kai'sai release didn't do much except clarifying what happened in the PAST.
Realistically never.

IT'S COMING, SOON...PRETTY SOON, REAL SOON! Then the lore was reworked.
There are like 4 Apocalypses waiting to happen in Runeterra now or something. Poor people can't catch a break
