1001 Days of Broken Lore.

Yesterday marked the 1000th day since Riot announced the massive lore retcon that supposedly eliminated the League of Legends from League of Legends. Since that time, they've removed it from many of the champions' biographies, but quite a few still have it.

Checking just the A-C champions, Akali, Alistar, Brand, Cho'Gath, and Corki all canonically reference the League (or Institute of War or Fields of Justice). I know there are others as you go further (I don't know why I remember Fizz as one).

Will the retcon ever be completed?

I'm sure they'll get around to it eventually, but World Building isn't as simple as just writing a brand new story for a couple of champions. It's a lot of moving parts that function together to present a new narrative and perspective that has long-lasting implications. For example, take the Vastaya stories. A lot of those older champions had their stories rewritten to class them into a completely different species. This changes things not only lore-wise but in terms of splash art updates, potential future skin lines, potential future summoner icons and ward skins, in-game voice interactions between champions, even promotional content during special events (i.e. Bilgewater: The Burning Tides, Shurima: What Lies Beneath the Sands, etc.). The lore team needs to think carefully about how they craft a champion's identity because it plays into a lot of different factors (things that Riot will eventually want to promote and monetize).

Yeah. But not quickly. Granted it's gained a lot of traction recently.
