Second Annual Reminder that the League of Legends still exists in game lore.

Two years to the day after the announced retcon, it's still not complete.

Runeterra is still an awful, jumbled mess.

This is your yearly reminder.

In case you think two years isn't enough time to do this job, remember that it's been more than four years (1580 days) since the last champion judgment and explicit mention of the League of Legends and more than three (1223 days) since it was clear Riot was doing this during the Freljord event.

I don't think it's a secret that the lore retcon was handled pretty much like shit. We still don't have a bunch of fairly common champion lores. And truth be told, Runeterra still doesn't actually make any sense as a setting, even in areas that Riot has gone over.

But, I think we can fairly safely say that the IoW is gone. There may have been some hang-over during the transition, but I really don't think the LoL still exists in game lore.

You need to remind us why exactly? Do you think people forget it's a mess right now? Or do you just want to post a salt thread to bash on Riot and pray for the old lore back?

If you asked why Riot is so slowly on the the issue. First the lore isn't that important to the game so I don't think it was their top priority back then. Second back in 2014 the whole issue was handle poorly and Riot was going through some changes internally with it's team. I don't think we offically met Jaredan until sometime during the Burning Tides event, before that we still believe Kite was the head of the lore team. They created foundation only a year beforehand, so Riot only really started their retcon this year. Riot judging by current trends will update a champion bio after it recieve some changes or a event involving them happens. They already delete the mention IoW from some of the champions bio a few month back.

If you still find it unacceptable that Riot is not doing enough, they could simply have just made some bullshit excuse to keep all the champion in the league. End of day we get these thing for free and we are barely a fraction of league community that matters much. People call more for the E sport and the game instead of lore.

Yup, still broken.

At least we're further along to getting it fixed.

Also as a note they probably didn't decided to axe the Institute until the absolute back end of 2013, given the transition in lore styles and delivery between Yasuo and Vel'koz/Heimerdinger. They were probably on the fence about it for a long time though since, as you stated, the evidence of a potential removal was there for years before hand.

We really need that Fiddlesticks/Shaco/Nocturne lore update soon. All three have lore tied directly to the League.
