Vgu list given by Reav3: who should be reworked when?

With the VGU characters for 2017 fully confirmed we can now speculate on who the next VGUs wil be for next year and beyond. Now this is not in order and some may be added but let's say this is the list for the next three years ( Duo Update) Now looking at this what should be the order they are released. Well we won't know for a while but here's what I think will be the order for each year based on what I've heard riot comments mention the most and on who I think needs their vgu for these years 2018: 2019: ( Duo Update) 2020: 2021: Again this may change or be added on but for next year I'm almost sure that'll be the champions for that year

I wouldn't be even so sure that we get only these 4 VGUs this year. After all Warwick took roughly 6 months if you count the winterbreak(and honestly it wouldn't surprise me if WW was already ready for patch 7.1 and they only didn't include him because they didn't want him to sit on the pbe over the winterbreak). So it wouldn't be unreasonable for Urgot to come out in june,in which case there'd be a small chance for the next rework of the team to come out in december Sure its a small chance,but it is there.

Also if we go by 4 reworks each year,then you'd need to keep in mind that Swain will likely take a bit longer than other VGUs,because of his additional models and that Kayle and Morgana are still 2 champions and thus will take more time than others.(sure morgana will likely take less work than the others,but kayle really needs the whole VGU)

Overall if I'd rank them in tiers I'd say that: Tier 1: Mordekaiser Nunu Swain Irelia Pantheon (all of them really need the VGU) Tier 2: Akali Kayle & Morgana Shaco Chogath DrMundo XinZhao (all of them,except Morgana,are in dire need of a VGU,but not as much as the Tier1-champs) Tier 3: Volibear Rammus (I feel like these 2 are in a pretty ok spot,they need the VGU,but not as much as the other champs)

Then will we get 4 new champions? Don't get me wrong in a perfect world we'd get 6 updates and 6 new champions each year but with the amount of time needed to do both and the need for new champions to refresh the game system. I think we could hope for 5/6 new champions and 4 updated champions with the occasional 5th if they decide to release less new champions

That might be possible,though I wouldn't be so sure about it.

A rioter said that while the next new champion will come out later than usual,that there'll be more champion releases than usual towards the end of the year. So it is entirely possible that we only get 2 champions in the first half of the year and then suddenly 4 in the second one.

If so, then for that to be the case then that mean 7 new champions and 4 VGUs , if galio is released last February patch then I'm compelled to believe that statement

Not sure how you get the idea that we'd get 7 champs in that case,I said 2 in the first half and 4 in the later half in which case we'd get 6 new champs,just like last year.

Of course thats just me speculating,so it is easily possible that we'll get only 5 champs this year.

Ah now I see that you were saying , I thought you meant more releases in general If galio is released last February patch do you think we could see 6 new champions and 5 VGUs also could it be possible to release or update a new champion when the vanguard update come Cause I can see the month when we get the update may be one of the months without a new or updated champion

Yeah 6 new champs and 5 VGUs seems possible.

Heck I wouldn't even rule out that we could get 6 VGUs if we are really lucky,considering that both VGU teams picked champs without extra models or a lot of skins for their next projects.

Though that is rather unlikely. Overall I'd say that we might get 5 champs and VGUs this year,maybe one more or less depending on how lucky we are and how good the VGU teams are making progress.

Not sure about that. I mean it is possible,but we don't know how likely this will happen since we don't have much information about when the Tank-update will arrive.

Yeah after looking at every champion high on the vgu , the chance of a 5th vgu is slim cause they all have a fairly large amount of skins including their classic ranging from (5-9)

I'd say Morde and Irelia would have a good chance to make it this year,if they get picked up as the next projects after Urgot/eve,as both of them have only 5 skins who don't have really much in terms of particles.

Meanwhile Swain and Cho'gath will likely take the most time,Swain because he has multiple models and Cho'Gath because he has 2 legendary skins.

Don't get me wrong,4 reworks(with the possibility of 1 or 2 additional ones if we are lucky) per year seems pretty likely to me too,I'm just saying that if we are unlucky we might only get 3 in a given year,especially since Swain and the Kayle&Morgana duo update will likely both take longer than a single regular VGU.

Though I hope that they create a 3rd VGU team eventually. I feel like the outdated champions become just more and more glaring and unftting for the game and the list just gets bigger and bigger(keep in mind that Reav3r only told us about the top candidates on the VGU list,so there are other champs who are on the VGU list,but aren't even anywhere close to the top)

I agree with ur prediction and tiers.

I think Urgot wouldn't take as much time as Warwick since he has only 1 model and smaller skin pool. Sometime in June is reasonable prediction. If things goes this way we have a chance to see 5th VGUs come out later this year but that's still dependent upon who will be the 5th.

Anyway, If the latest ChampUp announcement blog is the new standard of announcement. I think the next blog, which would come out when Urgot released sometime in June, would contain the names of 2 champs after Evelynn Urgot .

Yeah the latest VGUs all had something that likely caused them to need more time than usual.

Like you say WW had a lot of skins,Galio has a legendary skin and Yorick had additional models.

Ah that's right there will be q&a after Galio so I'm going to hope my question guests answered then Speaking of ya think Galio will come last feb patch or first march patch I know at least two or more months go without a new or relaunched champion but I'm hoping they can lower that to one month

Yup,though next year has a good chance to see 5 VGUs,since it was already said that the schedule for next year is going to be "swain->new champ->Irelia->new champ->Aatrox->VGU" and since riot has usually 5 slots for teams to work on champs/VGUs it means that the Zoe slot will be filled by an additional VGU(as Swain and Irelia fill the Urgot and Eve slots already and the 2 new champs fill the Ornn and Kayn slots respectively)

I actually thought the same thing for 2018 except my guess of the order is Nunu Swain Irelia Mordekaiser

But I secretly wish Pantheon gets his sooner

I'm somewhat in agreement with the 2018 theory, though I actually feel like Cho'Gath might have more priority than presumed. Cho'Gath is the only VGU mentioned champion that represents the Void. It would not surprise me if Cho'Gath would be pushed with a Void Lore Update. Since I can't even guess where new champions will come from, I will personally hold Cho'Gath as one of the prime targets of VGU 2018 along with Irelia [Ionia] and Nunu [Freljord].

One of the factors I am keeping in mind is how many skins these champions have. Urgot and Evelynn both benefit from having rather small skin pools, which could mean another 2017 VGU if they followed up with Swain or Irelia. If someone like Nunu or Cho'Gath gets picked first, we have the case of a large number of skins needing to be reworked while both also possess a Legendary Skin that would likely be updated to the present standard of Legendary Skins.

Very true And after next year the void and bandle city will be the only regions left for the relaunch. So they may relaunch Chogath for the void Also good god I hope they add more regions to group all the unaffiliated champions

I think we'll get a fifth update this year. Warwick came out in January, but he was finished right at the start of the year, which gives his team the whole month to work on Urgot. These projects take ~5-6 months once they go into full production, which means Urgot should be out in July at the latest. We could get one more at the very end of the year. If that were to happen, my prediction would be Mordekaiser or Nunu . Reav3 mentioned that they 'need it more' and they've both been consistently named as top candidates (along with Swain Pantheon Irelia ) Then those four would be our 2018 updates. As for beyond that, I'd pretty much agree with you, though I'd put Cho as the next highest after those big five.

2018 consists of Swain then Irelia then Akali and Nunu . Confirmed by one of the champion roadmaps so that makes 4 this year plus mini Reworks such as Aatrox .

This thread is already over a year old,so of course the information was already outdated back then. Besides it looks like we'll receive 6 VGUs this year,as 2 other rioters have mentioned that they work on VGUs as well(and they are not the ones working on the VGUs that you listed above). These 2 others are most likely Kayle & Morgana as it was said that these 2 would be a female VGU(Kayle) and a "minor" one(Morgana,as she is considered to be mostly fine). Not to mention that both of them got changes to their WAD-files,which was also done with Nunu and Akali.
