Small indie company.

I suspect when the current lore team decided on the new aesthetic for the Void and its characters, they kind of forgot how many void champions were already in the game and how diverse they were in appearance and character. Almost all of them will require a pretty drastic change to fit in with the new void design-style. At the moment, they all look like organic creatures that evolved somewhere, not construct creatures that were created for a sole purpose, with perhaps the exception of Vel'koz. Few, if any have the "pulsing purple heart" the universe page mentions, almost none of them have that fibrous flesh described in the newer stories - while many have an armored carapace it's hardly uniform.

Cho'gath, Kha'zix and Kog'maw are the worst offenders here - though Cho was on of the original 40 champions so his design inconsistencies can be forgiven. He definitely needs a rework - my issue is the new narrative has sort of forced a mini-visual rework for several champions that don't need it.

I think that's a Void creature when first emerging. Not sure though. It's been stated that the white material they have slowly hardens the longer they are alive in our world I believe, until it becomes the Black looking, cooled magma looking stuff.

I don't like his in-lore design at all.

Yeah, I kind of wish they would commit to either the cartoony, old style of the void, or the newer, eldritch style, instead of flip-flopping between both.

If you take the size of the second picture and imagine it with the body textures of the first image that's what Vel'Koz looks like in lore currently.

All in all - pretty damn terrifying

You can't be putting too much detail on the characters in a moba. It creates a visual mess. Look at Lux base skin and then look at her Light Elemental skin. The Light elemental skin has so much shit going on in it that it ends up just ends up bleeding into itself causing it to look jagged and messy. Vel'koz ingame design is simple and clean. Sure, the concept art looks great and all but if you put that shit ingame, all you would get is a shifting blob.

I'd really like them to do something about Rek'Sai. She looks like a children's toy version of a void creature; she's just very clean and vibrant; not scary in the least... The character design is a huge miss even in concept art.

Pretty sure that’s just an “artistic interpretation” kind of thing.

Can you tell me how did you make the images to be shown directly from the discusion? Pls I want to make some posts that would require images but I don't know how. Also the in-lore version is much better and it looks more Void-like.

I see that second image as VelKoz when he was very young, still with a shifting form . He is the oldest living Voidborn, so makes sense he changed.
