What should the Phase 2 of Comics be?

It's midway through 2020. The First Phase of comics has just ended with the final issue of the Zed comic series.

Your higher ups have as a result green-lit a Phase 2 of comics. Assuming that you are given the power to choose what will go into production next, which three comics do you suggest for Phase 2

Leona - Set on the backdrop of Mount Targons' Rakkor base camp, newly minted Aspect of the Sun and leader of the Ra'Horak, Leona embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Bestowed with ancient knowledge by the celestial being she fused with upon the mountains peak, Leona travels in the footsteps of the Aspect of the Moon, Diana. When her longstanding beliefs about the Solari are challenged by the truth behind the stars will Leona be able to leave behind the faith she was raised into and embrace a new viewpoint?

Jarvan - A continuation of the Demacian Arc focused on Jarvan in the midst of the Mage Rebellion coming off of his fathers' death. Jarvan struggles with balancing the needs of his kingdom and his personal feelings towards Sylas. Intercut with flashbacks of him and Shyvana and their days together while Jarvan was living in self-imposed exile. Jarvan is forced to re-conciliate the man he was with the one he is becoming as he is faced with more and more difficult choices and as the nefarious Mageseekers and Tianna Crownguard grow in power and influence.

Vi - The most traditional of the three. This series will lift the veil on the mystery surrounding the relationship between Vi, Jinx and Warwick. Starting with Vi's days as a rough and tumble street kid trying to survive, leading into her adolescent days running her own gang and then the events that lead to her meeting and partnering with Caitlyn and her development into a Piltover Warden. All this culminating with Vi and Caitlyns' pursuit of Jinx and the mystery of their relationship revealed within the Ecliptic Vaults.

What three comics would you Greenlight and why?

Since the comics are the best way so far in continuing champion stories and character development, my vote would probably go to Ryze Ezreal Garen

Ryze -- Even though we've had stories and comics before, I feel a real series could give so much more depth into the lore of the world runes and Ryze's past. Set it in the time of the Rune Wars perhaps. There is still so much untapped lore potential in Ryze's story and he may have one of the most interesting to explore given how much of the world he has seen, the tasks he's had to do, and the burden he has to bear. What brought him to the point we know him at would be great to explore more indepth.

Ezreal -- His current lore and stories show so much potential for someone who has a lot to discover about themselves and a past to face up to, but different than most others. When I first read his new lore/stories, I knew that I wanted some additional stories showcasing him facing his inner turmoil caused by his parents' disappearance, and most likely lack of care/love for him. It'd be an interesting story arc to look at and different from most others as it deals only more with self rather than external influences as well.

Garen -- I want to follow Garen after Lux leaves. He has faced the truth, now he has to live in a city and world where the truth haunts him. Obviously we had a hint in the Lux comic that his sword is a source of magic, so having him discover that reality -- and the reality that the whole Crownguard line is most likely magical -- and forcing a decision similar to Lux would be interesting to see. We could also continue to follow Jarvan, Lux, and Sylas that way.

Unpopular opinion perhaps -- I'd love to see some comics that outright go beyond the lore at the time of in game play so to speak. For example, continuing with the Demacian lore, bring about resolution; have Jarvan crowned king, defeat/kill(?) Sylas, change Demacian laws, etc... I want to see the story of the world continue, not just stagnate at a certain point because of the way champions appear/act in game.

vi and leona

While a continuation of the demacia comic would be really nice I'd focus on the factions that haven't received a comic, or don't have that much lore in the first place. In general I'd also prefer it if the comics moved the story forward instead of just retelling what we already know.

So I'd say the best factions would be: Bandle City While Teemo or Tristana feel the most like they are Bandles main characters I'd say that a story about Rumble or Lulu would make more sense, as they do have their stories explored to some extend(lulu could search for the glade, Rumble could try to impress Tristana). Though the most important thing to me would be that this could finally flesh out bandle city.

Piltover/Zaun One story could easily feature both factions and I agree that Vi would make a good candidate for a main character.

And normally I'd say that Mt.Targon would make sense too, but I honestly feel like Targons characters are currently rather ill suited for a story arc related to Mt.Targon itself. I mean Diana is said to be in ionia now, so a story focused on Leona would need to be made without her(though a retelling of her lore in the style of Ashe could also make sense). Ixtal also seems like a poor choice since it doesn't have that many characters who are actually connected to each other. So since Targon and Ixtal are out I'd go with:

Noxus And I'd say that Talon investigating the disappearance of Katarinas dad would be an interesting story, especially since Swains VO makes it clear that he wasn't the one to make him disappear(or maybe he just wants you to think that?).

You: What comic would you Greenlight and why?

My brain: Don't say it. Don't say it. Don't say it. Don't say it.

Me, loudly: JHIN!!!!

Jokes aside, though, it may be a bit too much to ask for, considering that he's making an appearance in Zed's comic, but I'd really like a comic that's just focused around Jhin. There's a lot that can be explored about him, like his time in Tuula Prison and his relationship with the cabal.

Gotta ramp up that content rating though, cause Jhin doesn't play no fucking games.

I would like a Jax comic

1st thing I would say is to have comics for regions that haven't been covered in these Marvel Comics. So we can give some lore love to other regions. So, excluding Freljord, Demacia & Ionia, I would go with:

Leona Zac Yorick

Leo because I just want to see more of her. I want to see what happens when she finally meet Diana. A comic will also give us a chance to see more of Mt. Targon & it's unique visual aesthetic.

Zac because I just want a fun comic series of him going around Zaun & saving the day. Honestly, a perfect fit for Marvel since Zac is practically a superhero. He even have dead parents because Riot felt the unnecessary need to kill both of them off. Plus we get to see some more of Zaun & a fun Zac comic can easily bring in other Zaun champs & maybe even some Piltover champs.

Yori because I just want to see more of him. Let see him clash with other Shadow Isle champs. Maybe finally learn a bit about the Ruined King in his current state. We could have a flashback to a bit of Yori's life before the Ruined King incident & see how he looked back that too. A comic will also give us a chance to see more of the Shadow Isle & it's unique visual aesthetic.

Leona Diana I absolutely love the Leona/Diana idea. Especially because Solar/Lunar eclipse Leona has affectionate lines for Diana specifically, so it's beyond an IronStylus headcanon that there may be a positive relationship between the two. Furthermore, we have relatively little knowledge about Mount Targon.

Irelia Riven is another comic I'd like to see happen. Both of their short stories occur right after the Noxian invasion, but their current lore/age is about 7 years after that point. Riven, by that point, may still be living with her adoptive parents, working on their farm, but with the Navori brotherhood around, life isn't exactly all pleasant in Ionia. Similarly, what has Irelia been up to in the years since--especially given that she tried her best to step out of the limelight (at least as a warrior--it'd be pretty interesting to see if she could lead a normal life as a performer in the years since). Both have to contend with bouts of PTSD as well. Furthermore, we haven't seen much of Ionia, and I highly doubt Zed's comic will give us a sufficient sightseeing tour. Just the idea of Riven seeing Irelia dancing near a river, and just having the comic focus on life in a new Ionia through their eyes would be something unique, I think. Throw in the Navori brotherhood or maybe Zed's order of shadow if there's a desire for violence/action/bonding through being action girls if that's something that's desired.

Vi Caitlyn Jinx would also be an interesting, lighthearted comic that gives us a romp through Piltover and Zaun alike. IMO, the atmosphere there seems very interesting--twin cities coexisting one on top of another, and the interactions between the people that live there. This doesn't have to be a particularly angsty, feels-trip sort of thing. It could very much take a more light-hearted "come and chase me, FAT HANDS!" approach, but it could also go the solemn route, what with Vi's past, and certainly, Zaun has its fair share of utter monsters (Singed, Urgot, Mundo, etc.) to create a horror show from if that's where the comic wants to go.

Vi Caitlyn Vi and Caitlyn buddy cop series. Now. This has been needed for so long. Sprinkle in some Vi backstory reveals about Jinx, add some tension between Vi and Cait when Cait detectives the crap out of the truth and Vi doesn't believe her, etc etc. Characters like Jayce and Ez can show up too, or even some Zaun characters. Maybe some Camille drama. You can tell a lot of stories and include a lot of characters with just these two.

JarvanIV I too would like a follow up to the Lux series. They can show us the consequences of what happened in Lux's story. Alternatively, I really want to see what happened with J4 and Shyvana. Shyv is only mentioned in the Lux comics, and not even by name. Would like to see that cleared up and give Shyvana some time to shine.

Lastly, I really wanted to pick Ezreal, since he's a natural protagonist and can have stories pretty much anywhere in the world....maybe even a Lux/Ezreal story, since I would love to see that but...since I already picked a Piltie and a Demacian, I'll offer some variety. Either Kalista Hecarim Blessed Isles story or Qiyana Ixtal. Blessed Isles/Shadow Isles doesn't have a lot of lore, and hasn't been touched in a long time. In going with the theme of "backstories" with these comics, I think Kalista could serve as a good focal point, to see the ruination take its course, and the details of that tragedy. Many SI champs owe their backstory to the events of her backstory (especially Hecarim, who would basically serve as an antagonist) plus important side character, the Ruined King (also a cool nod for people who don't know much about the lore, since his blade is in-game). With Ixtal, we desperately need more details about it. Its culture, its people...and while Qiyana wouldn't be the most heroic protagonist, we could still see her manipulations in action, and meet some of her siblings or her parents along the way. Having more side characters to connect to could help the region as a whole. Ixtal seems interesting, but it just needs more, and a comic series set there could really flesh it out.

I'm seeing a lot of good suggestions here. Its hard to only choose three. I would love to see more of almost anything.

I would love a piltover/zaun event full of political intrigue and mystery, not sure exactly what the story would be about, but it could involve collusion between the chembarons of zaun and the rich families of piltover over some burgeoning technology that could harm the populace

You could have Ekko comic in Zaun as he gets way in over his head, then you could have Caitlyn Vi buddy cop comic as they slowly figure out this scheme. Vi could be a good connection between the two regions as you uncover more about her past and where she comes from. I may be biased for piltover and zaun, but hey.

THIS, SO MUCH THIS. They have hinted all this stuff way too long, I want to know the big secret behind all these interactions! And Jinx is a highly popular champion, it makes sense to give her a comic.

If I'm not wrong, Odin teased here on the Boards that he (or Narrative in general) has got big plans for Illaoi in 2020, actually.

Could be that she'll have her own comics series?

Also, I remember Odin saying that he already started thinking about another Freljordian comics series called "Oathfather", following Ashe's "Warmother" series.

-_-

Anyways!

As people here have already said, a Garen comics series would be really cool, focusing on his life in Demacia following Sylas' shenanigans, with young Jarvan IV being his new king and Lux gone from Demacia.

I would also really like to see that promised Tobias & Graves story where they travel to Piltover after the events of Burning Tides.

Finally, I really enjoyed Ahri's updated bio and short stories and I feel like her journey of discovering the truths about her past as well as finding Ymelo (from the story, A Fair Trade) could work really nicely in a comics series.
