The V.S. Event was Pay-To-Win - and Riot exploited our feelings

In retrospect it was a cash grab. Riot knows many players are passionate over their mains, especially popular champs like Riven and Yasuo.

This is beyond "who won and the icon yada yada". It was honestly a massive cash grab. Putting the Summoner Ward behind a 1300 RP paywall is bullshit...I bought it anyways.

It was also bullshit for people playing BOTH heroes. Spending 2600 RP for two wards? The extra dailies did not make up for it. The Orbs gave LEGACY skins. Those are basically worthless - it's why RIOT stopped selling them. The drop rates for the gems and skin shards were also a joke.

Constructive Criticism: You need to allow people to buy the ward/icons a la carte (by themselves). You also need to just implement plain old RP Bundles for the champ. No one wants to jump through hoops, especially ones leaving a bitter taste in your mouth. I get that RIOT is trying to do this "Daily" shit and introduced it via this event but it was bullshit.

Pay-To-Win? What were we WINNING?

You were able to get basically two chests during this event, so no. As I can see you ether used money to get order tokens for that icon, or you wasted the free mission tokens for the icon it instead of getting two chests which are objectively more worth than an icon.

Daily missions are an added bonus when you play games, and when its fully implemented for things outside of the vs. event, then it will be a massive positive. Right now it was only a positive for the event it was used in.

What were you trying to win?

Well, hang on a second, let's do some math.

Ward Skins usually cost 650RP - and 650 x 2 = 1300 (the price of the Order/Chaos Passes)

Now, the Way of Order/Way of Chaos Passes didn't exclusively have a Ward Skin; they also had 100 Tokens, a Hextech Chest and Key (which is 195RP, BTW), an Orb of Order/Chaos, The Ward Skin, and special missions + a Token Multiplier.

So for the price of two Ward Skins, you get one Ward Skin, a Hextech Chest and Key, an Orb (basically a free Legacy skin, plus a shot at Gemstones or a Hextech Exclusive skin), 100 Tokens, increased Token gains, and more Missions to complete.

While I don't like that the Nightbringer/Dawnbringer Ward Skins were exclusive to those Way of Chaos/Way of Order Passes, I still enjoy the exclusivity (dropped 1300 on Chaos, didn't even look at Order) and the extra content that was in the Pass.

And, if we're being technical - them releasing anything - Skins, Bundles, Chromas, Ward Skins, etc. - is a cash grab, because we have to pay to get those skins and yadda yadda yadda. But does that make me any less likely to pay for it? Nope. 'Cause it's all awesome stuff - if I wanna buy it, I'll buy it. If you get a bitter taste in your mouth for buying stuff, maybe you should stop buying it.

You didn't have to pay anything to participate in the event though...
