Colorful mage theories

Felt like recapping some (reasonable) theories for who or what the next champ might be. Forgive the format, on mobile.

  1. Ighilya from The Garden of Forgetting. Appearance matches the implied theme from the roadmap. Wouldn't be the first time a champ debuted in the lore (Liss, Illaoi). Also, this bit.

"You startled me, Ighilya,” said Ahri. In the stories, the old woman was known as the Eater of Secrets, the Forgotten, or the Witch Gardener. Wanting to show respect to one with such power, Ahri decided to call her Ighilya. Great grandmother."

It just reads like a champion intro.

  1. The "pure vastaya" promised by a Rioter at PAX. Speculated to be a chameleon, which would fit their hiding theme.

  2. A yordle, also reasonable since they're generally lighthearted in theme and Riot's been meaning to update Bandle City. Lore updates are normally bundled with a new champ or VGU.

  3. Maura from Art is Life. Champ is also speculated to be the ink mage concept Riot tried to make, but shelved due to technical limitations. She's a skilled artist, as shown in the garden and later mansion scenes, and her fate is unknown.

Edit: 5) A shaman Ezreal mentioned to have met in The Curator's Gambit. Might inhabit the new Kumungu and use a taffa flower with hallucinogenic properties.

Will add anymore I recall/learn.

For me I would pick Ighilya, I mean it's the closest character we know has an affinity with nature and specifically flowers. She's a sorceress.

A chameleon vastaya being the colorful mage doesn't make sense, because when I think about a chameleon, I think about camouflage, shapeshifting and most importantly about assassination. The flowers seen in the colorful mage teaser in the previous roadmap could be the Taffa flowers, quoted in Ezreal's new story to be some kind of hallucinogenic flowers, just the way Ahri sniffed a flower when she was in the garden and smelled it's surnatural perfume to lose her memories.

Oh and we have somekind of "catchphrase" in the teaser saying "Won't stay hidden for too long" implying that this character may have a camouflage and the "You startled me, Ighilya” from Ahri really makes me think that she may have an ability that makes her unseen from others.

In the portuguese champion roadmap, the next champion was teased in a way that proves we talk about a female, it was written "uma nova maga colorida" and not in the male form "um novo mago colorido".

Rioters stated we will already find many hints for the new champion in the lore. I'm 100% sure this champion is a female and is Ighilya.

I can't wait !!!

What story is Ighilya from? God, I hope she's the next champion. We desperately need an old lady, and I would love to have her as you've described her.

The recent addition of Maura seems way too coincidental in my opinion.

It has to be her.

Yea, i remembered that in Ahri's lore, in the Garden of Memories, she asked for a way to forget that she killed a man because it was emotionally hurting her. Also, Maura sounds pretty cool and very similarly reminds me of Katsushika Hokusai from Fate/Grand Order https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hyG81Vp_ig

I hope it's the shaman lady from Paretha (as mentioned in Ezreal's notes). But honestly I'm looking forward to whatever is introduced.

I'm really hoping we get a teaser sometime in the next day or two then we'll see this champ in the PBE next week cause that's when I've been thinking they will show up (8.23)

"Colorful" as in colorful language. Again, I want a champion with a personality as salty as a Silver in Gold Promos.

Is it bad i'm not looking forward to new champions anymore because they always end up breaking the game in a negative way? I feel like Riot's obsession with making every champion "unique" is definitely not always a good thing.

Also if it's the old flower lady she better be best pals with Ivern.

I really hope that the mage is a yordle,mostly because I just want to get a bandle city lore update,as its the only major faction that didn't get a lore update after the big retcon and its really lacking thematically.

TBH Id like to see a melee rabbit like yordle who uses his feet to fight ppl. Stompfoot or something idk.

Truthy the Conqueror of True Damage

Truthy is a paladin, and everything after this point in the lore panders to weebs, Teemo fans and maybe someone that played Poppy once.

She does %true true damage.
