Lore... What happened to it?

Seriously, what happened to the lore?? I have no idea if this is an old topic or not, but I haven't logged into the game in a couple of months (Exams/work/etc). I only just started playing a few days ago, and when i logged back in, I saw some kick-ass looking champions. So what was my first thoughts? Well, apart from wondering how they play in game situations... The lore, of course.

So i go to the champion page, click on the lore of the first new champ i saw (Azir) and what do i see? Two sentences.... Yeah... So naturally, i assumed it was just incomplete, or i hadn't fully updated my game. So i checked on the next one that i knew was there, Kalista from the log-in screen.... Four sentences. I could understand one, but two champs was suspicious. So i checked out my main, Thresh (I knew before he had a nice, long Lore which had attracted me to him in the first place) only to discover it had been reduced to next to nothing.

A little research later showed me that the whole concept of the league was being removed from the game! The F*** Riot? Whats the point of having a game called LEAGUE OF LEGENDS if there isn't a LEAGUE?? I understand if you want to expand the game, but you can't just retcon the entire games back-story (And essentially the title of the game) to do so?! At least keep the lore and the league which a HUGE part of the fan-base loves and actually try to work out a different way to expand the game? Maybe introduce a new story that expands from the league.

Or is it just me that finds this massive change to the game shocking and a bad move on Riot's behalf?

absolutely not, there have been thousands of posts - unfortunatelly all of them got ignored by the Lore-departement. They seem very eager to kill off the old lore for good and replace it with...well, maybe we´ll know in 1-4 years if they keep up with this speed.

The lore for several champions basically got deleted 2 months ago when the Shurima event started. This was when Azir released. Some champions (namely, Cass, Sivir, and Azir) were fortunate to be starred in videos about Azir's return. Nasus narated the videos, Xerath and Renekton were breifly seen. Amumu, Ramus, Scarner, Ezreal, and others basically got nothing.

Riot claimed that all of these champions would have larger lores posted on the main website, but that there were technical difficulties doing so. They state that the 2-4 sentences are suppose to get people interested in the champion, like a synopsis, but they took so much out that I don't see how this could ever be interesting to a new player.

After a month or so, Riot posted more lore for Azir and Xerath (the two main characters from the Shurima event) on the forums. Azir's lore felt shallow, but true to his in game character (basically he only thinks about Shurima). Xerath's lore was much more insightful, but changed him from a mage into a deciever who made Azir think he was a mage...

Sion's rework is the only real source of lore we've had. There were several interactions between other champions on his teaser page, and Riot decided to put his full lore on his page instead of the 2-4 sentence of yawn.

Very disappointed with Riot on their handling of the lore. It seems like more of this should have been ready to go before the existing material got deleted.

Because they ragequit on trying to make an actual story that actually diinguishes LoL from other MOBA games. Mainly because they can't even make a good reason for (insert name,* cough Jinx and Gnar*) to join the League.

And also the lore team failing to make good stories anymore. All we get is cinematics that doesn't really tell us anything.

For the lores: They have currently some tech issues with it. The plan is to put short lores into the client, while gathering the lore pieces for the champs on the official site(yes they want to put there multiple lore pieces),sadly the lore team didn't know that the main site draws its lores from the same source as the client,so if they include the short lore in the client, then they also put it into the main site.

The problem is that they can't seem to get it fixed, but push out the short lores anyway. We've got the full lores for xerath(new),Azir and Kalista on the forums, they also accidently included sions full lore instead of the short version(but left it in anyway). Many shurima champs and shadow isles champs are currently missing their full lores because they got the short version already without riot putting their full lores onto the main page.

Ezreal is less interesting as a character to me right now.

At first, he is cocky. Now? He is embarrassed.

And embarrassed young boy would not have to gonads to ask LUXANNA CROWNGUARD out and MANAGE IT.

Seriously...

I don't think they deserve accusations of intentionally killing off the lore. No one wins in that situation, least of all them. Honestly, why would the Lore team destroy the very source of their job?

Perhaps if we tone down the hostility, they might be more comfortable giving us some news on what's going on.

Moonbear95, I agree with you. We are in the resistance of the IoW destruction; keep reading the forums and you will see a plenty of summoners constantly arguing about the subject. And don't miss the opportunity to bring the questionable treatment from the Narrative Team into attention of the other teams at Riot. Maybe together we shall save this game =)

Bit of a item 3026 on the post here, but has there been any update on this? Some of the champions are still severely lacking, and its still really bugging me!
