About Fiora, can Jax still be considered her rival?

Before the retcon,it was pretty obvious why they would each other rivals. The "Grand Duelist" & the "Grandmaster at Arms" met on the Fields of Justice & they were (probably) equal in strength.Their clashes were likely exciting duels of wits & skills, precision & speed, etc & etc.

But now, with the giant question mark on Jax's entire backstory? And the removal of the IOW (how they met in the 1st place)?I don't know if we can consider they have a rivalry in lore right now.Maybe in the future depending on how Jax's lore will be handled & if they ever meet in Retconterra, they may have a clear rivalry.

Even then looking at Fiora's new lore,it's seems to me that she have a stronger desire to restore her family's honor rather than seeking strong opponents to face.In fact, her dueling capabilities seems more like a way or tool she uses to maintain her & her family's honor rather than it being a driving factor for what she does in life.So the strength of the opponent (Jax) wouldn't draw her attention as much as it would for old Fiora (who just wanted to duel strong opponents). It maybe tempting, but I don't think she would risk dueling Jax just because he's strong if it may affect her family's honor in a negative way.Speaking of Jax......

Since I doubt Fiora would have much need to leave Demacia, what would draw Jax to Demacia in the 1st place?Would he even go to Demacia for any reason?Since we have no idea who New Jax will be,we have no idea on how to figure out how to make that work.Yes,he could be a type of wanderer or vagabond.Even then,Fiora doesn't duel people unless they speak of House Laurent in a negative way & she hears it,so I doubt Jax would care anything about Demacian Nobles to say anything about them.It is possible that Jax himself seeks strong opponents,so he could have come to Demacia to challenge people (Fiora) & we could take it from there. But like I said, that's if New Jax is a wanderer. If he's ends up with a backstory that prevents this rivalry from happening or prevents it from happening in a sensible way (like how Goku vs Superman is),then it might be safe to assume that Jax should be taken off of Fiora's rivalry list.

And that's my main point:I don't think Jax should be on Fiora's rivalry list at this time.Maybe in the future, but now it doesn't make sense.

I was just thinking about this, and I feel like it all comes down to how Jax is perceived by the world in the new lore. I'd imagine that he's pretty famous, probably had word of him spread across the continent, a few tall tales here and there. Depending on the extent of these stories then it might've impacted Fiora during her younger years.

I could see Jax as being a person who, across the world, could be seen as a master of combat who no one could beat. Some one anyone could look up to. In Demacia would they entertain stories of such an individual? Perhaps, and then would they reach Fiora's ears? If they did then they might have served as a spark; an ignition to drive her to be some one as capable and strong as Jax; the unbeatable Grandmaster.

On a different angle, Jax is the Grandmaster. Again if we think about how he's viewed in the lore now, then rumors probably spread far and wide. What kind of accolades would be given to the person who bested Jax of all people? What kind of accolades could Fiora receive for being that person?

I dunno, just some thoughts on the subject.

Jax is actually Garen, but wearing a costume of ninja turtle, since he is a Crownguard, they hate each other.

Well I'm assuming that his title will be the same it would probably go along the lines of. Fiora hearing of a person who claims to be the best with anything searches out to find such a person, she eventually finds a lead and finds him, proceeds to challenge him and its here were things can go two ways:

  1. Jax and Fiora duel each other but Jax proves to be an equal, or actually wins, making Fiora want to best him and so puts him as one of her rivals.

  2. This is my personal favorite and the one i see most likely being the case. Fiora challenges Jax but Jax simple denies her challenge. No hearing what the offer is or why she wants to duel him but just simply walks away. Saying how he doesn't have time or has something to do (or get some drinks with some pals). This of course will make Fiora mad for she views it as him seeing that its not worth his time since he would win.

Yeah I'm not sure how many of the rival/friendship statuses should actually be considered as valid anymore. A lot of them seem based on the universe where IoW existed and some of them don't even have anything to do with canon lore; like Zilean and Volibear.

Its probably something that they want to explore in the future. Sivir also listed Cassiopeia as her rival even before her lore was updated(heck she now lists nasus as an ally, despite no known connection between the 2) Maybe they'll add something once they update jaxs lore.
