Garen & Katarina Shelved Cinematic by Riot

I put in a link for those interested! It's a Garen & Katarina story that Riot had put together to explain their relationship.

Riot, PLEASE don't let this die. I loved what you guys had going here with Katarina and Garen. I would really like to see it explored in another way, perhaps through a comic if anything else. This work is too good to go to waste!!!!!

I been bugging riot about doing something for these two champs for a while now and to see that they shelved this hurts

To keep your expectations tepid.

Riot has a history of creating technical experiments and character studies that are rarely slated for official release as standalone pieces. They have tons of content that we don't get to see because, well, they're purely conceptual explorations. This project is likely no different. Most of these projects, from an outside observer's perspective had a lot of promise. But for one reason or another, the product isn't completed or ever intended to be for audience consumption. Plenty of others were/are too ambitious for the devs to fully commit to.

Its not wasted material though. Because it's all apart of the development/creative process. What we might get instead (if anything like this at all) will remain to be seen. But I wouldnt hold my breath. Heck, theres no way to assume that's how Garen and Kat's canonical first encounter will end up.

Hm, if this stuff is being revealed to the public without a completed product, then I have a feeling it's not just shelved, but also cancelled. Plus, while some of the stuff in the art is really cool looking, there's not really connection from that to the official lore of League of Legends today. This might be a rather outdated piece, from when Riot was still sorting out their world, and therefore no longer fits into the canon lore.

HOWEVER, I doubt Riot is completely scrapping Katarina's and Garen's relationship in the new lore. Rather, they're going to figure out another way for these two to meet and how their relationship works. And as much as I have mixed feelings on this relationship, I'm slightly curious to see what Riot makes for them.

To be honest, I don't care about Garen or Katarina as characters and never have. But I'd love to know what kind of void monstrosity that was.
