Urgot Hype!!!: the lore just got more interesting

Let's be honest Kayns release was eclipsed by urgots tease and pre-release and honestly I don't blame people he looks awesome. https://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/a/aa/Urgot_OriginalSkin.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20170711184810 And his bio fits his new persona perfectly and can't wait to see where it goes from there. With that in mind I'm curious to see if his vgu will only cover his lore or other champions lore.

Now when urgot was first announced, some thought he would herald the lore update of the great empire itself https://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/e/e9/Noxus_Crest.png/revision/latest?cb=20161117055949 However , as hinted by Reav many times , urgot may have roots in noxus but he is now mainly affiliated with Zaun and that is seen in every aspect of his being. So although noxus will have to wait, urgots update just may cover lore for other champions, particularly two champions that were not only left out in the Zaun update but also have much in common with urgot; Twitch Singed All three are highly involved in Zaun though to different degrees All three have been drastically altered by Zaun technology and its chemical environmental all have they're own twisted agendas to make Zaun 'great'

With this in mind I'm guessing on my thoughts for how much lore the othe known and hinted updates for champions will cover. this however is not factoring that new champions may also be chosen to update lore of groups or region in runeterra which could widen or lessen the lore of these champions Evelynn ( just her lore) Aatrox GU ( possibly daarkin champions ) Swain( highly possible herald of noxus) AkaliKennen( double or back to back release for ninja related champions in Ionia ) Amumu( just his lore) Chogath( possible herald of void update) DrMundo ( just his lore) Fiddlesticks Shaco Nocturne( triple or back to back release considering their all living nightmares) Irelia( possible herald of Ionia update) Jax( just his lore) Kayle Morgana ( confirmed double release) Malphite( just his lore) Mordekaiser( just his lore) Nunu( possible herald of freljord update ) Olaf( possible extention of winters claw champions) Pantheon( just his) Rammus ( just his) Teemo ( possible herald of bandle city) Skarner( just his) Tryndamere( possible extention of Avarosa champions) Volibear ( just his) XinZhao( just his)

And to those familier with the champion tier for vgu please remind me

Amumu DrMundo Mordekaiser Pantheon Rammus and Skarner all already have new lores and these regions have been updated already. It is possible we have an event for regions such as Targon and the Shadow Isles when Panth and Morde are updated as we don't have the icons for those as of yet. Jax short story hints at him being from Icathia, which is the 'stronghold' of void corruption in Shurima, so Jax's new lore could reveal detail's of the Void and possibly Malzahar and Kassadin. Imo, Olaf, Tryndamere or Volibear introducing the Freljord update would make more sense than Nunu, since currently Nunu is disconnected from the main story of the Freljord, though this could change with his update.

All these champions have been mentioned to be on the vgu list regardless if they were updated during regional updates to further push this point Evelynn is the next vgu yet she still got a bio and short story during the shadow isle event

Evelynn is a different story from the rest, it was stated when she got her new bio and short story, that they were temporary placeholders. It is highly unlikely, Morde, Panth and etc. will receive new lores. VGU doesn't mandate that they receive entirely new lores, however, it is common to leave the lore update for when the champion will receive their VGU.

As for evelynn i can see her as a herald of the shadow isles or continuation of there lores but if not i can see morde will be the one considering he is the mascot of the area. As for the herald of shurima, i can see skarner get the position because he is an important part of the lore/shurima and even runatera. As for bandle city, i can see a new champ being the herald like camille considering teemo's vgu will not be soon enough(lets assume 2020) its a heck long if riot will wait for teemo's vgu same with the void. cho's vgu in my opinion will not be too soon considering there is the top 4 high priority vgu's(swain,nunu,panth,morde) so a new champ as a herald will be great. overall i agree with some of yours. great work :)

Most of the Shadow Isle champs already had their lore updated. Though there might still be a couple champs to update.

I wouldn't mind seeing some interactions between Shadow Isle champs. As far as I've seen, non of them ever seem to interact outside of the actual game. Like, I'd like to see Thresh and Yorick cross paths.

Nice [slayer-jinx-catface] I did not consider that some champions could herald a sort of part 2 for already updated regions.( the lore must go on 😁) Also I agree about Teemo At the very least we'll get 4 VGUs a year and there are many champions ahead of Teemo on the list so a new champion is likely to reintroduce bandle city. But I personally cant think of any champion better suited to updated the void then Chogath

My personal theory is that were going to get a Spirits &/Or Demons Lore Update I've been thinking that the herald of this would probably be a completely new Champion, but a series of reworks of Shaco Fiddlesticks and Nocturne is highly plausible as well (I mean, the three of them have a literal trinity of evil-shadowy-nightmares, they are the only ones listed as related to one another).

I'm thinking more detailed lore and more short stories on TahmKench, Bard, Brand and the three other Demons mentioned above (We already have a decently detailed lorepiece for Kindred and Janna was reworked into a spirit in the Zaun update)

We might actually get a darkin update next week,because of Kayns release. After all the vastaya update came a week after the release of Xayah and Rakan as well.

And keep in mind that most factions will likely need 2 updates to get all their champs done. So Nunu could be the herald of the first freljord update,wheras Volibear could be the herald for a second one.

Also some champs on this list already have new lores,so its possible that the VGUs will simply adjust to the new lore (and continue it)instead of retconning the current lore again.

Honestly, if there was gonna be a Darkin update with Kayn, it would have come out while he was in the PBE. I think we might be getting a Noxus/Zaun update since Urgot is in the PBE currently. This could actually be the perfect chance to expand on Noxus and Zaun relations.

Like I mentioned before. The Vastaya update was released a week after the release of Xayah and Rakan as well. So there is a good chance that we'll get the darkin update next week.

No it wasn't. I remember that there was some confusion about the vastaya update,because Sharjo repeatedly said that it is going to become clear who is a vastaya and who isn't.But then we didn't get an event upon the release of Xayah and Rakan,which caused some confusion if we'll get a vastaya update or not.

Just look at Surrender@20,a news site that updates regularly about pretty much anything league related. Their article for Xayah&Rakans release(the release on the regular was posted on the 19th april(which is their release date),but their article about the vastaya lore came out on the 25th april

We've got some vastaya lore before their release(the one about the guy from Piltover who was doing his research on the vastaya,as well as the lores of Xayah and Rakan themselves),but the new lores for the other vastaya champions(including the ahri lore about the memory eating garden) were released afterwards.

Hm k indeed but Urgot feels like the new champion, a lot more hype going for him, Kayn feels like the 5th Ryze rework

If Kayn had been teased 6 months back as "League's next Darkin" his hype wouldn't have fallen off, comparing him to Urgot isn't a just comparison.

Actually considering people have been waiting for Urgot's rework for years has me thinking otherwise. Maybe it wouldn't have fallen off as much, but it still would have been muffled by Urgot hype.

Honestly, Voli would be first to herald Freljord update. Cause Sharjo mentioned him not so long ago, how badass Voli will be.

I wouldn't be too sure abou that. It looks like they do know already what they want to do with Voli,but Voli is arguably in less of a need for a VGU than many others. So even if they have something planned already,they might give Nunu a bit priority because he really feels like the most outdated champ in the game.

I think Voli lore update will be separated from VGU and will go first with Freljord update. Just how they did with Panth. Panth it seems like going to get VGU relatively soon, but got his lore update, which also was/is teasing Panth's new look.

If Nunu is heralding Freljord update it seems that we'll have update in second half of 2018. And I think they would try to finish territory updates till first half of 2018.

But who knows.

I doubt that they'll manage to finish the big lore updates til next year. We still need a second Demacia and Zaun update(granted the zaun one might come with Urgots release).

However so far we didn't even have one Freljord,Ionia,Void and Noxus update. Same goes for Bandle city,though I imagine they might do a general yordle update,which would also cover the missing piltover champs(heimer and Ziggs)

And most of these groups will likely need 2 lore updates,meaning that we're still missing around ~10 territorial updates before we are finished..

no he doesn't. Most of his videos are based on official sources and he tends to mix in some of his own interpretations into them.

I don't like how people are getting uppity about "URGOD BEING TAINTED #NOTMYURGOD". You're entitled to your opinion, but Rework Urgot has something OG Urgot doesn't have.

A fear factor.

OG Urgot is just really grotesque, and is also known to be ugly and sometimes crappy in games(unless played by a pro, which can be said of all champions, to some degree). Reworked Urgot, on the other hand, looks mildly grotesque, but now he looks actually scary. It's basically what Riot did to Warwick; making a champion affiliated to Zaun look legitimately scary, to balance out Zac and Janna with the cute/nice-looking factor. Sorry for rambling, don't care if you upvote or not. Just stating my personal opinions of Urgot's rework.

I mean, I love new Urgot. I love the direction they're taking and his abilities look really cool. I have seen people complaining on the boards, though. Not to the extent of galio, but still there.
