So as we've seen, with the exception of Lucian knowing the creatures of the Shadow Isles, and the others, except Olaf, knowing stories about them, none of the champions know who each other are, or have even heard of each other, whatsoever, even though by player base they've batted many times before. I'm assuming that player based battles don't really matter, being excluded from canon? Or how exactly does that work out?

Sharjo5 votesValoran's a huge ass continent too, so the chances of some of these champions meeting each other is slim to none. If Bilgewater wasn't so tied in to Harrowings and the Shadow Isles I'd bet that Lucian wouldn't set foot there.

The League of Legends and Summoners Rift are concepts that have never existed in the current canon so unless Champions are figures who would be known on the world stage it's unlikely they'll have heard of anyone who isn't from their corner of the setting.

The Battle for Ionia was played out in the League of Legends by real players, and determined the history of how the Noxus and Ionia war played out. The Journal of Justice is canon as well, unless they discarded it also. Guess we won't know unless they tell us.
Melancholy Exile2 votesThey've both been put forward as non-canon, although events and plot details may still be considered canon if they haven't been directly contradicted elsewhere or may yet be reworked and maintained in a different form. Events like Kalamanda and the Ionian War certainly still took place in the new canon, or at least it's been suggested they did, but the way they played out will likely have been somewhat different.
The League of Legends/Institute of War, Summoners (at least in the form we knew) and the Journal of Justice simply did not exist in the current canon. What remains to be seen is how Riot will fill the big vacuum that leaves in the setting's past and reinterpret Champions whose backstories were intertwined with the League.
TexMeta1 votesOkay, so it's either a complete re-do of the lore, or a pre-quel of some sort for the lore? I mean, Graves and TF are supposed to be enemies in game, but now in this lore they are friends again, so that would have to put both of these events after the creation of the League. Even now, they still have the old taunts of being against one another, but also their "lore" so to speak, of what happened, turned out to be a bad heist more than TF betraying his friend for magic. So this is all just leaving me REALLY confused lol. I guess until Riot says what is what, we should just consider this really interesting and fun, but take nothing as serious canon until further said? P.S.: I assumed this was all canon, because what happened to Gangplank changed him in-game.

And with all of that in mind, how does the new lore, or actual fictional canon lore, if I should put it, say that Ionia saved itself from Noxus?

Well, the LoL was removed forever, everything in game is not canon. There is no explanation for now, but some people thinks that Bard saved Ionia in the video "The Mountain" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CX8iSobsKTY), others say that Ao Shin will save Ionia in the future.
