Gangplank's Return

So there's been a lot of discussion on how Gangplank will return. Some cite Tahm Kench and his tendency to take advantage of a person when they are at their lowest point. Others point to Spooky Gangplank. A possibility that I'd like to explore are the terrors from the Shadow Isles.

Over a few decades, Shadow Isles monsters such as Hecarim and Mordekaiser have been leading an invasion of Bilgewater. It may be possible that Mordekaiser resurrects Gangplank for his own purposes or Kalista finds him and promises him revenge or Thresh locks Gangplank's soul in his lantern and Lucian ends up freeing him inadvertently in another adventure.

While a cross-over Shadow Isles event sounds cool, I doubt it will run into the Harrowing. That would mean keeping him dead for 3 months.

He's likely tied to the Tam Kench or the next champion. Possibly this "savior" of Bligewater thats been hinted. Personally I think that this "Bearded Lady" or "Mother Serpent" is going to be involved somehow. Perhaps GP has her blessing.

When you tie in the fact that the Harrowing is 3 months away, what you say makes sense. If they incorporated the Shadow Isles, it would almost certainly be through the Harrowing. Tahm Kench coming to the rescue makes sense. And then when Tahm tries to exact his payment, he'll end up in an epic fight with Gangplank. The Fallen Pirate King vs The River God: two ruthless cutthroats fight for supremacy. Sounds about right. :P

But the reason I asked about this possibility is because I really enjoy talking about how different characters interact within the lore. It's quite fun to imagine different situations. :D

I certainly think a tie in with the Harrowing would be cool. It would be awesome to have one continous flowing story rather than pockets of events. I just don't think Riot planned that much ahead of the Burning Tides event.

That said, I could definitely see GP working out a deal with the SI. Something were he gets to keep his life but has to sacrifice souls to the Black Mist. Or is that too close to the plot of Pirates of the Carribean?

You're probably right: the year so far hasn't been a smooth flow, but rather a broken series of events. That trend doesn't indicate that Bilgewater will flow into the Harrowing.

But yeah, if they manage to hook Gangplank up with the Shadow Isle, that would be an immensely powerful faction. And it would make sense because GP is a proud character, and being brought so low could cause him to become angry and would most definitely make him vengeful.

I think a new champion is coming out of this...its the best compensation for disabling a champion for no reason for so long

I think his return have to do with the magic dagger item 3714 that T.F was hired to steal, it dropped off from his hands as he freed his partner Graves to the depths, which is likely where the remains of Gangplank ended up, the dagger touches him....he gets revived.
