Just ... Shut up please

I get the purpose of the Long-Move voicelines is for when youre moving from base across the map, etc., but did Ashe's VO update really need to go on and on ... and on... and on ...

Most of these lines could be drastically shorter.

I have heard no better words than "The Strongmust try the Impossible." This is the oath I must fulfill."

The same message could've been delivered by simply just saying "The Strong must try the impossible." All in all, the VO update is amazing and by far one of Riot's best VOs in a long time (Nunu being the last good one, imo, and before that you'd have to go back pretty far.) especially as it kept most if not ALL of Ashe's prior lines including her double entendre taunt - Though its no longer a general taunt and only spoken towards her husband, now. Do note that I'm not complaining about Ashe's VO specifically, but that many many many champions, near every single release or update since Sir Thomas Kench, are senselessly mouthy and annoying. I'm here to play a strategy game, not listen to random narration that has nothing to do with the game. Ever played Soul Calibur? The narration at the beginning of fights doesn't keep talking during the fight, nor would anybody want it to.

All in all, thank you Riot for updating the voicelines of a fairly outdated champion and thank you a dozen times more for keeping her original lines (Still miss Nunu's ... everything. All of his old lines were iconic.) but please. PLEASE dont pack certain voicelines so much.

Oh, and remember;

Nunu IT'S COLD OUT THERE.

The narrative has everything to do with the characters in the game, though. The game may not be canon anymore, but that doesn't erase the fact that these champions have their own stories and relationships.

You certainly have an uncommon opinion. You could just turn them off? Or idk better yet would be to throw out an idea to turn off all irrelevant voice lines. I doubt it would happen cause the majority of league players don't seem to have an issue with this at all. An option could be to turn off the music, and voice and only keep the SFX on. You'll be able to hear those audio cues you want without their "annoying" voice lines. You'll be missing out on what makes a character a character but hey some people just want to play a game and nothing else.

You say that like Riot is forcing you to sit down & listen to the VO & VO alone everytime you play.

In game there are also other sounds playing. There's the bg music, announcer, numerous SFX, pings, other VO lines happening. Some people play with other songs/mucis playing in the background. Some people play with friends that talk over the VO. There's quite a few things that can drown out the champs' VO in game. I'm sure the long move VO lines won't happen often per game anyway.

It's completely different than watching a video dedicated to showing the new VO in it's entirety.

I don't agree that it's a good VO, but I do agree that champions need to just shut up. They talk so much, most of the VOs sound like them yelling at everything, and it gets tedious quickly. I'm fine with really basic lines and such. We don't need 20+ seconds of talking all the time. People don't really talk like that; think how many words you say on average.

The thing is voice lines are an expansion of the lore that sometimes doesn't get fleshed out in the actual lore itself. Hearing it directly from the champion is much more powerful than reading about the whole town they are in for that story. For instance, a short story that is about Vel'koz and Lissandra, [https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_us/story/the-eye-in-the-abyss)], really expand on what it means to be an ice born. It shows what's under the ARAM map. The protagonists of the story aren't in game champions. So this story gives you perspective of how Vel'koz and Lissandra interacts in the world of Runeterra, but hearing them talk about their motives, philosophies, and moments in their lives is much more impactful.

Pyke, for instance, talks about an underwater city, which you would never get from the "actual" lore; He is just some spooky spectral from reaper of the harbor in the lore. Pyke shares intimate details of how "the last thing he ever drank was priceless". That is HUGE on an emotional level. We understand that something so simple as a drink is monumental to him. "Work hard and then die.... The other way is worse". Comical, yet it shows where he is in life (death?). He is constantly pushing towards an end goal that we think is crossing off the names on his list of those who betrayed him, but from another voice line he says how "his bosses to need gold" or something along that. Now we know he is an employee of someone, but we don't actually know who....

It gives the player a very personal look into the champion they are playing. It gives the player a chance to relate or be intrigued by a champion, which could lead to more exciting gameplay or more "maiming" that champion. In the end, if it really upsets you, then it's easy to tune out or you could turn off VO in the audio setting, but it is a great tool to explore a champions story while still playing the game.

Game of Thrones could be told in 300 pages, would it make it better? Words are here to give the feel. If Ashe did not say "I have heard no better words" you wouldn't know her favourite sentence. If she didn't say it is something she must fullfill, you wouldn't know how much she cares about it. If it was in your way, It would make it her quote, not something anonymous she has heard.

It could be shorter, but it doesn't necessarily mean it would be the same, or even feel the same. So please stop bitching no sense. It is a long move quote, it is supposed to be long.
