If the Vastaya were originally humans, why do Rakan and Xayah hate humans?

I can understand if every human were bad, but have Rakan and Xayah really only run into bad humans? Or do they just assume all are bad because of their past experiences?

Technically, Rakan and Xayah are also part human, if blood runs through their ancestors, parents, siblings, etc. And it's said that the Vastaya can live for thousands of years, if not forever, which means that surely the two lovebirds aren't pure magical beings - they should still have human in them (their features, anatomy, etc).

The Vastaya were never human. They had human ancestors yes, but the Vastaya themselves have always been the hybrid children of ancient humans and the magical shapeshifters of the lands. According the lore, anyway. This tends to get kind of murky when you talk about Nami and the Marai (why did humans copulate with merfolk to make merfolk Vastaya? Why are we required to understand that everywhere Vastaya are, there was a human, in a long age ago, who copulated with a mystical shapeshifter to spark a tribe of beings? It gets weird, and starts to lose logical sense once you think about it).

Anyway, the Vastaya are no more human than gorillas are. We have the same ancestors, millennia ago, and we all share very similar DNA, but they are distinctly their own species due to how they grew and evolved differently from proto-humans. Vastaya are similar in this sense, though the general scope and speed of evolution in regards to them is a little magically sped up. They're very much a different species from humans, enough to not connect themselves to the humans, and as such, they do not consider them kin.

Humans already hate other humans for being born the wrong nationality, even if they share common ancestors. Kind of similar to that.

If humanity evolved in Africa why do some people hate black people?

In their (especially Xayah's eyes), humans are destroying the magic of Ionia (where she lives). The Vastaya are partially magical in nature. They depend on it.

I don’t believe vastaya were originally human. I think they are basically a separate species that evolved alongside humanity.

The best comparison is the Neanderthal, though obviously humans in Runterra didn’t wipe them out or breed them out of existence.

Political motivated. I doubt either really care about Nami's plight, they care about their own.
