Why Are Folks Sl*t-Shaming Kayle?

like...ok look for the past few days folks have been losing their minds over kayle's new look.

i can understand if you don't like the design, but saying that the main goal of the rework was to make her sexier and crusading on that note is just fucking dumb and distasteful.

like, why kayle and not morg? they ACTUALLY sexualized morg MORE (note: i do not MIND what they did for morg, but they did make her sexier.)

but i dont see anyone pointing at morg with the same zeal, only kayle, and i don't get it.

i just want to understand where you guys are coming from.

less armor/more latex? thats hardly even latex, its a hard-leather patting UNDER ARMOR. thats what half-plate looks like in my head when i am playing D&D.

its not like riot gave her miss fortune honkers with massive cleavage.

its not like they gave her a TITANIC BA-DONK like kai'sa.

i just don't get it.

now...with all that at the side, please, let us discuss WHY you feel that way about kayle.

no bull-shit about "riot wanted to make her hotter" or "sex sells", WHY do YOU as your own HUMAN PERSON feel that kayle is hotter now, and if so, why is that a bad thing for her and not morg?

thank you for your time, and lets keep it clean...awwww fuck it, knock-out-drag-out it is!

Because Morgana has always been seductive (to an extent), whereas Kayle was the complete opposite, deliberately hiding herself behind her armor.

Sexualizing is fine when it's justified.

Smooth, delicate, purple fabric that isn't divided into layers, counts as "hard leather patting"?

WHY do YOU as your own HUMAN PERSON feel that kayle is hotter now, and if so, why is that a bad thing for her and not morg?

I don't feel Kayle is hotter.

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I much prefer assertive, heavily armored women, compared to suggestive, scantily clad ones.

But I know it's in Riot's intention to make her more appealing.

Why do I think it's bad? Because it went against everything Kayle was in her old lore.

Kayle used to be a grim dispenser of justice that did not do what she did because she enjoyed it, but because she felt it was necessary.

This is an excerpt from her old lore:

"She shielded her delicate features beneath her enchanted armor, the sole remaining masterpiece of an extinct race of craftsmen. Though a beautiful, striking creature, Kayle, now as then, avoids showing her face; war has taken a terrible toll upon her spirit."

Kayle, deliberately, wore tons of armor on purpose. It was part of her character.

She knew she was beautiful, yet she did all she could to hide that part of her away from others.

To have her going from this, to her wearing less armor and even going so far as to removing her armor as she levels up, goes against the character that was previously established.

In contrast, Morgana had always been a suggestive character, running around with nothing but a bra on her upper torso and with voicelines like "not all angels are good", her being sexualized had already been established.

That being said, I'm sorry if I came off as aggressive. I too want to keep these discussions civilized, but this topic in particular is something I do feel greatly about, especially as a (former) Kayle main.

If I say they were trying to sexualize her, it’s not that I think it was the main goal, but the reason why the design is particularly revealing around the crotch. I don’t particularly care for Morgana looking sexy because it looks good (and she looks prety similar to before for bonus points). Basically, I think new Kayle looks worse than old Kayle, particularly because of the crotch, but also because of some other details.

I think she actually looks really ugly in both forms. I don’t feel like explaining why in detail as I could talk about it for ages, but to summarise, the colour palate looks worse and the armour seems gaudy and doesn’t make sense. The purple/ brown covering her abdomen is cloth, a rioter confirmed it on reddit at some point. I know it isn’t going to change though.

This is my personal opinion, I don’t speak for anyone else. Once the rage has cooled down (Shyvanna’s lore was kind of bad timing) I want to compare Kayle’s old visuals to her new ones, but by then I might just be tired of it.

How did they make Morgana worse? She went from wearing a bra 10 sizes too small and a skirt that looks like its going to fall off any minute to a backless dress.

I agree with Kayle, though. Bodysuits aren't sexy, and it doesn't make her look sexy. And her losing her neck/shoulder covering and helm when she levels isn't that bad, yet people act like she's completely stripping naked. I really don't understand the extreme hate for it and massive amounts of complaints. I don't necessarily like the loss of her armor either, but jumping on the "she's a slut" train isn't going to solve any issues.

Criticizing the design and designers, not the character. Pretty obvious difference and it's pretty sad that you don't understand something so simple.

They made her more appealing and "interesting" to the player base. And that thing alone damaged her previously established character. It's dumb and nonsensical but it serves that purpose they wanted.

Err... No.

Just. No. No, we're aren't slutshaming Kayle. That is not why we dislike the new design. If we were slutshaming, then we would be complaining about Morgana as well.

We aren't against sexy characters in League. It's why you barely see anyone complaining about Evelynn, because she is a succubus who uses sex appeal to kill her victims. Her being sexy makes a lot of sense in that regard.

We just don't like it when they put sexiness in a design for no reason or when it contradicts what the characters is supposed to represent. Kayle is one of those characters.

She is an angel that represents absolute law and fairness, someone trying to cleanse herself of humanity to become more divine. NOWHERE in her character does it makes sense to say "oh, but she's sexy too!" In fact, it makes more sense for her not to be sexy.

Sexiness is a very human thing. Kayle doesn't want to be human. So those two things contradict each other, and it's why people think this new design is a lot more weaker than the old one. On the other hand, Morgana wants to become more human and less divine, so in her case sexiness makes sense. So no one really complains about Morgana unless they feel that sexiness doesn't suit her design anymore given her new lore. Not because she is actually sexy. (Hopefully that makes sense)

Also, I will give you a bit of credit, Kayle isn't horribly, outlandishly sexualized on the level of Miss Fortune or Evelynn. But it's worth noting that her crotch and lower stomach are still exposed, the armor on her thighs seemed to be designed to make her thighs look bigger, and the armor around her body, plus the "bodysuit", is form-fitting and it shows off her curves and her general body shape. Not to mention she had a boob plate until Riot fixed it due to complaints, and she LOSES her armor as she levels up. AND that's without comparing it to the old design and how non-sexualized it was. So Kayle's new design is still sexualization, at least in my book.
