Welcome summoners, to yet another "Facts, Myths and Theories" discussion. I'm just a fellow summoner who likes to write here on the Story & Art board, and talk about all the mysteries surrounding the League of Legends lore. I grab what we know, what we don't know and mesh these together to form - spoiler alert (but not really) - theories, to try and crack the lore wide open.

It's 2015 guys and we got a lot happening this year! Personally, I hope I can write more of these although my attention has been divided amongst other things and personally it's just too much to have to write this in a regular basis. So, when I write one you'll get 'em. Sadly, this doesn't mean I can write one every one or two weeks. Still, I hope your holidays went well and I hope we'll have fun together on 2015! Be it here or on the Fields of Justice. I'm going to try to be a little bit more active on Twitter, so it'd be a pleasure to have a few laughs with anyone of you that wants to. Today, I've got a small yet fun theory for you guys. Maybe the way I'll write more of these is work on less huge theories. But who knows? Let's get to it then!

Today's Topic: The Mystery of the Glade

Or as I personally like to call it: "The Yordle, the Fae and the Glade". Or for those of you without artistic and/or poetic passion: "Lulu, Pix and the Glade". Anyway, you may be wondering what mystery I'm trying to solve here. I mean, Lulu's lore is pretty straightforward... So, what's up? Well, there's one overarching mystery when it comes to Lulu which is Pix and the Glade. Where did Pix come from? What's his purpose? What's his agenda? What about the Glade? What's up with that?

Well kind sir, if you've asked any of these questions before, you have good judgment. We don't know a lot about these so it's only natural to ask these questions. We think alike. But for those of you who didn't, that's cool too. Lulu's lore really is simple and it may be that I'm reading too much into this, but honestly I think the Glade has some sort of mystery around it... And I have a theory to what that is. So, without further ado... The Facts!

The Facts

Lulu, the Fae Sorceress. A curious character she is. She's really jovial and childlike, but she's 200 years old more or less. Or is she? She's very whimsical and jolly, yet she doesn't play well with others. Or does she? One thing's for sure... she's a little... different (By which I mean she's a total nut job... she's got crazy eyes!). And being a little... different. One would think she's an antisocial introvert but clearly this is not the case as she has friends in the Glade and in Pix, going along with her whimsical self and way of being.

In her lore entry, it mentions at the start that she spent most of her time as a child in Bandle City "wandering alone in the forest or lost in a daydream". So, she was basically always with her head on the clouds. The thing is she wasn't antisocial, instead she just preferred the world of pure imagination inside her head, than the day-to-day of Bandle City. "She saw wonder in places most people overlooked". Immediately after that, her lore entry proceeds to say as follows:

"This was how she found Pix, a fae spirit, pretending to be stuck in a birdhouse. Lulu's imagination distinguished her to Pix, and he seized the opportunity to lure her into his life. He brought her to the Glade, the enchanted home of the fae, which lay nestled in a clearing in the woods."

In this secret place known only as the Glade, physics, size, color, 'could change as easily as the direction of the wind'. It was in this place that Lulu felt home... Interesting, no?

"You'll see more with your eyes closed." http://i.imgur.com/a8HMARA.jpg

In the Glade, Lulu lost track of time as her life there was comfortable and felt natural. She played games with Pix that she had been told were "only pretend". It was at this time that our little yordle realized she had left a life back at Bandle City and so she returned.

"Lulu decided to revisit her former home, to share some of the lovely things she'd learned, but when she and Pix returned the world had changed."

She returned home only to discover that entire centuries passed by since she first entered the Glade and returned, since time was distorted in the Glade. Think... Interstellar. It was then that Lulu tried to reconnect with outside world and its citizens. She, out of the blue, had apparently gained magical powers... When she led all the children of Bandle City to play hide and seek, she temporarily changed them into flowers and animals to spice up the game. Naturally, the habitants of Bandle City didn't find this Lulu to be that pleasant, so they made her an outcast.

So this is basically Lulu's lore entry in a nutshell. There's a few interesting points here that we'll come back to in just a bit, but if you're not intrigued by what the Glade and Pix's origins and history are, then you'd be lying to me. So, let's talk about some Myths... which today will just be an attempt at reasoning what these things might be.

The Myths

http://i.imgur.com/5rDwaeM.jpg

Lulu is the only known champion to have even visited the Glade and all the information regarding it is in her lore... Which is interesting in it of itself since she came out two years and ten months ago. But, what's mentioned in her lore about the Glade, besides it being the enchanted home of the fae and its time changing properties, is this:

" There the rigid properties of the outside world - things like size and color - changed as frequently and whimsically as the direction of the wind."

This is really weird. This is basically Wonderland, with Lulu as Alice and Pix as the White Rabbit. In the Glade, there are apparently no rules. Things like size and color and such are all subjective... This is said to be in a clearing in the woods, which is by definition what the word 'glade' means. But, Lulu being in the woods next to Bandle City was the only to find it, only with the help of Pix...

Speaking of which, Pix comes out of nowhere, immediately befriends Lulu and then brings it to the Fae home. This is apparently how Lulu got her powers anyway, since her lore never explains how she does get them... The Glade's list of whimsical properties just keeps growing... Giving random kids magic powers? Check! I mean, her powers are as mysterious as Pix and the Glade themselves. Pix is a fae... that's all we know about Pix. And the Glade is a magical place and that's all we know about the Glade... So, what gives?

Well, the theory I have is probably controversial, but one that seems highly logical to me... One that answers a lot of the questions we have and notes all the interesting statements in Lulu's lore. Wanna hear it?

The Theories

http://i.imgur.com/8C44290.jpg

Ok, so technically I have two, but their basically different versions of the same theory. Here it goes! The Pix and the Glade and Lulu's whimsical powers do not exist! They are all imaginary!

Whoah right? But, think about it! It makes sense the more you think of it. In her lore it says that has a youth she spent most of her time on the woods and imagining things instead of leading a normal life in Bandle City. It even says this:

"She saw wonder in places most people overlooked."

Dude! That's because there wasn't anything to be looked at. It was all in Lulu's brain. No wonder most people "overlooked" it. It's because that wonder was all being imagined by the mind of a young yordle! Then, she found Pix, while pretending to be stuck in a bird house. In her lore it states:

"Lulu's imagination distinguished her to Pix, and he seized the opportunity to lure her into his life."

It was right there! This quote basically tells us that Lulu's imagination is what lead her to Pix. That's because Pix is nothing more than an imaginary friend! An imaginary fae! Then Pix lead her to the exact same place that she would go to when she delved into her fantasy world in her imagination, the forest. More precisely, a glade in a forest... THE Glade! It was an imaginary world Lulu created for herself. That's why it had no rules! Not even physics or consistency in size or in color! That's why she felt so comfortable there and why she felt the world was natural to her. It's because it was all created by her!

It even mentions how Lulu and Pix played games together that others would call "only pretend"... it's because they were. And that's why it even says she got exceedingly good at them... that's because she was the one who created the game and pretended. She was calling the shots in this imaginary world. Remember, the Alice analogy I used a while ago? Wonderland and the White Rabbit were all but a dream Alice was having. Nothing was real... It's the same here...

"Whoa...dizzy." http://i.imgur.com/Ml74wtU.jpg

Of course, this doesn't really explain why centuries had passed when she finally realized she had a life in Bandle City that she had left... or does it? Could it be that her return was imagined as well...? Or that when she returned everything that she imagined wasn't what really happened? Maybe, she did return and she just imagined centuries had past and that the kids were being transformed into animals by her.

And the best thing is that her magical powers don't disprove this theory, at least not anymore. Since, gameplay isn't part of the lore anymore, Lulu's attacks and powers could all be imagination and that would be okay in the gameplay space without messing up the lore. Of course another theory is that Pix was real, but everything else was not... that she was being manipulated by him.

Think about it... Pix did bring her into the Glade and is a fairy... so it's only natural that that's how everything happened. Regardless, the Glade isn't real... it never was. It was nothing but a mere imaginary world created by the mind of a child. Lulu was always a head in the clouds, but this is extreme... Could it really be that everything we know about this little yordle was all fake? Could it be that the whimsy we see in-game is all but real? Well... that's up for imagination! ;P

It's all just a theory though... Thanks for reading!

I missed this... I say that every time there's a huge gap between discussions though. xD I hope you liked it. It was a pretty big assumption so I hope at least that it was a good read. It was short, but you know... Anything else I could've written would've been filler and a time investment so that's good I guess. I receive new comments on the other discussions every now and then saying that people really like the series and the occasional Rioter comment and really it just makes me feel happy. I can't really share my love of lore and to write with anyone other than you guys, so in the end you guys are what make me keep writing these. Thank you so much for your support! So, please just keep commenting and sharing your theories with me and other readers, and feel free to yell at me on Twitter! You guys rock. :D

While the idea that she imagined all the Glade and Pix into existence, it'd be stretching it, and kinda silly, to have everything she does as part of her imagination. But wait... Maybe the League of Legends was just something Lulu made up?

Do another one on Vi and Jinx's ties with Ekko involved. (Starter Evidence: Ekko has XII on his swordbat)

I honestly never considered the possibility that everything was just a product of Lulu's overactive imagination. It is nice, and makes a surprising amount of sense. Kudos to you!

However, I will point out that while mention the nonexistence of the Institute of War as a political force, explaining Lulu's "powers", the Fae Sorceress was conceptualized while it was still a part of Valoran. Lulu was designed to actually compete within the League of Legends, which requires a bit more than happy thoughts and pixie dust. As such, I believe Lulu's magical prowess is very much real.

For me, the Glade is not so important as the effects it has had on Lulu, not to mention yordles' natural tendency to go insane when isolated. How lucid is Lulu? Is she at risk of insanity, or already lost? Has Pix decided to stay with Lulu out of curiosity, malice, or genuine sympathy? What does she spend all of her time doing? Where does she live, if Bandle City does not accept her?

Also, Mad Hatter Veigar, where?! We need a Looking Glass Lulu too. I mean, Queen of Hearts Heartseeker Ashe is already a thing.

Also, also, welcome back DialMARK, always a pleasure to read your articles.

Lulu What if there was this thing in Valoran called the League of Legends, where people could fight without actually causing damage to the world? Sounds like a fun idea! What if I was one of the people who fought in it?

Years later after playing for so long in the imaginative world of the League of Legends

Lulu I'm bored of this idea! What if it wasn't there anymore? That would be much better!

To be serious and go on with your theory: What if pix gave Lulu the magics to literally imagine worlds? Her imagination literally coming to life!

OOOOR... maybe Lulu has a very rare illness that makes her see things that are not real.. and that illness is transmisible and now every champion in League has it.. even the summoners, i mean us!!!!

Hey there, just found my way here from your Jinx & Vi Family Ties post a while back. I really love your breakdowns. Have you thought about revising it since Ekko 's release (with the XII being on his sword in the Ekko: Seconds clip) at all? I'd love to hear what you have to say about that whole thing coming out.

Will Ashram become a new champion now that League's Institute of War is gone?

Very Interesting...

so I hear so much mention of Ao Shin. who is he? isn't it like a fan idea?

I think pix is controlling Lulu. All her abilities are actually bring casted by pix. Before retcon, the league was a place for champions to represent their factions (at least that's one of the reasons why champs joined the league). Maybe pix is trying to represent the glade by using Lulu.

The Truth Behind Ao Shin completely.. this guy piss me off.. no one knows... nothing!
