Evelynn and why I love her currently, and what should be preserved in her rework
With the eve rework confirmed and coming soon after urgot, I thought I'd get some things off my chest before the galio team begins to work on one of my favorite champions.
I love playing the current Eve not just because of her playstyle, but I like her story and character design, it meshes so well. Riot hasn't disappointed me at all with their reworks in terms of shifting character designs (except maybe shen.. he didn't even get new recalls or splash), and I hope for Evelynn this is also the case.
Firstly, I think I speak for everybody by saying this Evelynn splash art is one of the most beautiful pieces riot has ever given us. I own all of Eve's skins, but I mostly play Eve's base one just because the loading splash art is so amazing. I would hate to see this artwork get scrapped. I know this was the case for warwick mains when he got his old updated art, but it wasn't exactly a master piece, just an update.. Eve's art is just a master piece, shows so much personality, so much mystery, and so much vibrancy in color that you can't help but wonder more about Eve.
- In the rework, I'd love for Eve to somehow keep her splash art. I know Shen was able to, but I'd love it if Eve's base artwork had some kind of Warwick syngery.. where ww's new art is almost exactly the same as the old update one in pose, I would like if the new eve art kept her current pose but just has her model and scene changed to match with the new eve design.
Story wise, there's not much to go by. This worries me cause while Warwick was easy to come up with a story for; a human becoming a monster, or yorick; a man who became a necromancer.. with Eve there is literally nothing to go by. You'll most likely make something completely new and unrelated to Eve because she's too mysterious to have anything to work with. So what's my suggestion? Don't Give Her One. You may be wondering "enemies are missing spam" but I feel that makes Eve unique.. does every character have to have an explanation? A character identity? Evelynn is this mysterious women who comes out of no where.. with no history, no trace when she leaves. There doesn't have to be an answer for everything about Eve.. perhaps give us an answer as to what Eve is in terms of faction, kinda like kindred's clarifies they're death, but let Eve's origin story and her goals/source of powers be shrouded like her stealth.
- Let Eve remain the mysterious being she always was, don't fill in the story you didn't create, leave it empty and let us fill that in ourselves. I enjoyed the short stories like in the shadow isle's lore update, but it didn't answer / ask more questions (besides the grey lady, which was a pretty clever teaser for camille if you ask me.. does make you wonder how Eve knew about Camille all the way in piltover?)
Design, she's uh... seductive.. which I'm not ashamed to say I like about her. I'd say keep this seductive, almost BDSM theme going for her, but keep it low-key like Ahri. Let her voice and appearance be sexy but not too sexy. I really don't know how to describe this part of her just keep her seductiveness around the same level. Make her the teenage dream that parents aren't happy to see walking past but not get embarrassed when your GF finds out you main her.
The hair gotta go, if there's anything I don't like about Eve's current model, its the hair. Ironically it actually looks fine in her splash as its not that big, but in-game, she needs a haircut badly.. I don't want to see Evelynn as this seductive assassin who looks like Miror B.
Her voice, I love her voice... seriously do us a favor, and go hunt down her original voice actor for this rework. I cannot emphasize how good her voice acting is. She may need new lines like Warwick, but she's probably the only champion I'll miss the voice over for so much. Either try to replicate her current voice, or try to get a voice actor like Karen Strassman (Zyra/Elise) to jump on board.
Blue skin. I like her blue skin, but I wouldn't mind a different color like yorick's or a blue so dark she's almost pitch black like nocturne, or LB's hair for an example.
Gameplay wise... stealth keep, make her able to still go AP or AD, and let her keep some form of her E. I can't say I will ever miss her Q, W, or R if a better ability replaces them, but most of the satisfaction to her feel comes from that massive on hit damage from E after surprising them with your stealth.
That's really all I can say, I can't speak for every Eve main especially gameplay wise for one tricks, but these are my personal thoughts and opinions about Eve as a character. Post what you guys think would benefit/be a good change to her. Would love to see the Eve rework be as amazing as past reworks, but as with everybody who mains a champion that's getting changed, it is worrying sometimes.
EDIT: Idk why people are assuming galio is what's triggering me for Eve and making me nervous.. I never played galio and he is literally the only champion I've never had on my screen as the player of since I joined league. The result of the galio rework doesn't affect me cause I'm neither interested or a veteran player of him, I have no visual or point of view to be disappointed/thankful for that a galio main/player would. The Evelynn rework is worrying me cause I am an Eve main, and anybody who mains something doesn't like the idea of a comfort pick being changed dramatically. I shared my thoughts because the development of the Evelynn rework is now starting as a result of galio finishing, and its good to fill in some ideas that maybe even riot will take into consideration during her development, where as being silent leaves them to their own ideas which, lets face it, are hit or miss.
