A project for the lore community. Show ourselves as Summoners. #cosplay

So they whined and whined for URF and got it. I'm thinking of something slightly more constructive (I doubt we have the masses needed for constant lore-restore whining anyway <.<).

One of the most prominent parts of League of Legends, one of the things that made me take an interest in the game in the first place, is cosplay.

And while this might not be the correct board to discuss cosplay directly, It's definatively the board to get the people who frequent the boards who'd be interested to see it.

The Idea is simple. It's very easy to do, could be really fun, and might even draw some attention to us as more than people who are severely displeased on the internet.

Summoner Cosplay.

It's the easiest cosplay ever, all you need is a purple robe with a hood (bonus points for a name tag with your Summoner Name on it).

Wear it to every event. Every occasion where it could be relevant. If people ask you explain, say you cosplay your own summoner from the old lore (which is still the current lore as far as i'm concerned until they actually retcon anything relating to the IoW and the LoL), go into detail as to why you're doing it.

Act in character if you get into discussions about the game, discuss in a sagely manner whether you'd rather build Cinderhulk or Warrior on a Jungling Vi. Comment "in-character" on how vital you think flash is for almost any Champion you Summon.

Put on a purple hooded robe, go out there and grab every chance you can to show people how cool it is to be able to be 100% in character, yet still talking normally about everything in the game.

Complain at how difficult you find it to CS with Anivia, how you hate facing an enemy Zed in the Center Lane.

Brag about your achievments, pentakills and aces and backdoors.

And make everyone you're bragging to realise you're not breaking character at all, when you nag about how important ward coverage is and how incredibly potent the new upgraded warding totem is.

But the real important thing, which could make Riot see how cool the Summoners really were, is the people who are there, cosplaying as much as the ones cosplaying Champions, yet also representing the playerbase directly.

I will be doing it, every chance I get the coming season.

And if you think this could be a good idea, or just a kinda cool or fun thing to do. It would be great if we could make this a thing.

Riot might want to kill the story they told us. But it doesn't die until we let it.

So let us show that story to the world, hold it up high and breathe new life into it.

Summoners, let us fight for the Institute of War, for the League of Legends, and the continued existance of Runeterra.

P.S. wrote this at 5:30 AM in the morning, I'm not confident I managed to put forth the idea in a good manner, but I still think it's something that anyone who wants to defend the old (real) lore should consider doing if they're going to any event where cosplay is relevant. It's a simple enough cosplay, and one of the advantages to it is that it fits all body shapes and sizes, It's not any worse than putting on a cool looking purple robe, and answering you're a Summoner from the League of Legends if anyone asks.

It might not work, but it'd feel like we're doing more than whine at the lore team and hope they cave if we whine enough. Because I do doubt we'll be able to find the numbers for that to work, though it did work for URF.

So yeah, more whining about the retcon being the worst mistake ever and calls for bringing back the JoJ is a thing we should do too I guess.

<_< I meant to write a short P.S. not this entire block of text.

I've stayed up way too late. But I've wanted to post this thing for like a month, so now I went and did it.

And yeah, it's probably on the wrong board, but this is where people might be interested in the contents.

It's primarily a thing about the lore anyway. It's not about the cosplay, it's about making a more visible stand for the dream we're getting robbed of.

I have a solution for you, on cosplay: While accessing conventions like PAX, ComiCon (both NY and CA), and many others are helpful, you can just tag Riot on Twitter and use hashtag #I'mASummoner or something along those lines. Have a photo of the person in costume, maybe holding an icon for their favorite champion.

We tried that. It didn't work. Jaredan has made it perfectly clear, "The retcon is not up for discussion." It sucks that they discard the consumer's opinion so quickly on this one, but this is why nobody has faith in them. Even if they deliver good lore at this point, what was the cost? The destruction and fracturing of a community that wanted lore, but now dreads it and further retcons to characters and their back stories? Look what happened to skarner.

No friend, a complain-fest about the direction won't help unfortunately. If they want to carry out this seppuku then let them. In the meantime, I won't lie, I downvoted the post simply for using a hashtag in the title.

Sounds like a great idea! If only there were conventions nearby for me to go to...

Of course, this does lead to a small predicament. My summoner name is a direct reference to elsewhere, so would I go dressed as the TF2 Medic in a purple robe?

I'd do it. Get my IGN embroidered on the back of the robe like a jersey in flowing gold script.
