Every new rework shows how little Riot cared about Shen.

Honestly, I think the title sums it up. And of course I'm not talking about Sion-scale reworks, but Poppy and Tristana more like. Shen got basically 0 new animations, they couldn't even be bothered to give him a joke animation, or a new recall animation. I love what they did to his kit, I love what they did for his model, but every time I see a new rework come out or look at other ones, it just makes me sad with how blatantly little effort was put into him. https://i.imgur.com/pD2HHY0.png I still love you, old man.

EDIT: Before you start complaining, yes, I know this wasn't phrased constructively. See other's comments furthering the discussion of the topic who have explained much more eloquently then I ever could. Thanks.

That's a pretty narrow view of Riot's process and Shen's update.

I think a lot of Rioters would admit to you that Shen didn't go that well, but he was also on the very front-end of intense champ reworks. No company had ever tackled a project quite like this before. They've learned a lot since then.

While I totally agree with you that Shen's rework was lackluster, I don't think that has anything to do with Riot's passion for the champ. That's assigning motive to a bunch of folks you've never even met; there are a myriad of better explanations for why Shen's rework didn't turn out well.

If you would frame this discussion in a constructive way, you'd be much more likely to attract attention and get some good community feedback on what went wrong and how to fix it.

Shen's in that same boat with Alistar Fiora MissFortune Maokai and to a minor extent, Singed and apparently Kassadin.

It's particularly bitter when it comes to Fiora and Miss Fortune, because Riot qualifies their work as actual VGUs when in reality they only got new model exteriors, and that's it. They, like Shen, maybe got one or two attack animations to go with their new kits, but their overall animation package is still ancient as hell (none of them have recalls or homeguards) and they still kept their old VOs (though Fiora's is mildly passable). They have shit level VGUs, especially when compared to Gangplank who was released at the same time as Miss Fortune and other really minor ones like Tristana and Ryze. Alistar, Maokai, Singed, and Kassadin also got model work done, and their kits have gone through enough changes that they might as well have the gameplay updates of a VGU, without all the V part. They too need to have the work on them completed. Singed is an atrocity, as is Alistar. They all need new animations and new voice overs (though Maokai got his, making him about 2/3rd complete), but Riot seriously needs to go back in and finish this shoddy work they did before moving on to something else. They'll only get worse and worse as time progresses, when they still have animation and rigging, and voice packages from 2009-2010...

They said themselves that they regret not giving Shen the full VGU treatment. However in the end,he was simply unlucky enough to get his VGU before the full-scale VGUs became the standard

honestl I see that you love shen but he is ver important in game but otherwise nobody really cares about him because his abilities are OK as they are theres no real neeed to do something with him as with most support champions... Support is sadly boring and riot sees it that way aswell :/
