Seriously Riot, not ALL splash arts should be changed.

As for others are indeed an upgrade but those 2 are just an example of how bad some chinese art look and does not fit at all with the others. I also personally dislike the fact that some female champion splash art look like anime fanarts (I'm not against anime) but the anime looking splash arts does not fit with the current art at all... not saying the old ones do but the coloring and style would fit more than anime looking art. Many of the chinese art are too bright and colored compared to the NA ones...

The only one that I thought was a GREAT update was the buccaneer swain one. The commander xin and wonderous (wonder woman) sivir looks good, and I thought the bonescale shyvana one was a cool idea i hate her face but the rest is cool.

Can we just look at how Twitch was changed? They look nothing like how he looks pre or post rework. I'd rather have what we have now than that garbage.

I'm not quite sure what you're referring to.

Over the 6.7 and 6.8 patches, several older skin and champion splash arts are going to be receiving small tweaks or be replaced with versions of splash art from different regions in an effort to unify assets across all regions. See this post for more information and continued discussion.

Are you referring to the fact that they're standardizing splash arts? I understand that entirely, what I don't understand is why they bring the Chinese splash art which looks even less like Twitch than the NA splash art. Don't just say "Read the patch notes" and downvote people without giving specifics.

While the long-term plan has always been for us to create brand new art for these older pieces, we’re doing some short term work over the next few patches to unify the global experience: some of our splashes will be switching to the Chinese version, and vice versa. We know that in some cases, the quality may still be low or the art style may still be off. Like last year’s Mass Texture Rebalances, this is not a replacement for full-scale splash updates down the road, just a short term solution to solve a specific problem.

Given Riot's resources one person could easily make a splash per week. For reference old ones (Season 2-3, that I know of) were actually being made in a matter of two working days.

I'm pretty sure they have more than one guy and much better equipment, so making half-assed bandaids like this is simply unfounded.

"mercenary" artists could do 1 splash in less than 6 hour. Can be less depending on equipment and familiarity with style.

Back when Riot was doing Art Spotlights, drawing a splash from nothing was indeed about 6 hours.

I said "two working days", because you need at least some kind of a reference to start with, like how a champion looks like, behaves, etc.

People don't like change .-. humans dislike change and we feel uneasy and resent the change .3. I personally enjoy some of the Chinese splash arts (Shaco <3) but there are a few that I could live with out.

I dont like them.. I mainly use Mad Hatter Shaco, and it's chinese counterpart looks like something straight out of a comic book.. All this skin really needs is a small update to make it look better so they could remove the blur.

Royal Shaco looks like Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter (anime) and i hate the lenght of his arms

The one with the clock actually looks quite nice to me, is it ''Hextech Shaco''?

I prefer the current Nutcracko, but this one is fine too.

And well.. Asylum Shaco, is pretty much Asylum Shaco

But yeah, many chinese splash arts look like deviant art fan art with ''black splash'' effects on them (such as talon's skin at the top of this thread), to be honest, it just looks like shit.

Some do look better than the NA counterpart. But i'd say it's only 50% of them. Tencent shoving their skins up our asses kind of makes me angry a bit. If they actually replace Shaco's skins with that bullshit, i might quit the game. I cant stand it when the champion i play has shit art.

Alright, that's fair. Some are not bad. The change in art style is really what gets my goat though. Even if it's good art, it looks weird to have anime-style stuff next to current splashes.

I'll admit some are just better; but they don't fit the style at all. It's like looking at some J-RPG chara design, or some J-Anime...

It's flashier, with a clear manga vibe to it...And I can't understand why we're getting that, even when Riot keeps making those soft/pastel, dark, adult splash arts with a very unique style (I mean just take a look at the latest Taric splash arts)...

If they want to have the same splash arts everywhere, they should not pick "the better version", they should pick the version that fits the game. And it's definitely not the Chinese one...

They are all bad, except not for the same reason.

Some are just of so poor quality, it hurts. Others completely miss the mark and don't even look like the champion they are suppose to represent (like Pax Sivir). Then there are those that despite being of decent quality, don't belong visually in this game, due to a huge gap in the style.

And then there are those unnecessary changes to "official" pre-update splash arts, like Karthus or Ahri, that accomplish literally nothing positive.

Well, unless you consider changing Dynasty Ahri's face and hair to ones completely not looking like her actual model, a "positive change".

I didn't mind the splashes people complained were "too anime" in the last batch, but most of the Sivir splashes have reached that point even for me. I actually don't mind the PAX Sivir one, but the Warrior Princess Sivir splash becomes... completely random anime? It COMPLETELY loses every single piece of the original splash and replaces it with something unrelated. The other ones aren't good either, Spectacular Sivir doesn't feel like it relates to classic American comics anymore (though I could be completely wrong about the original in the first place), Huntress Sivir doesn't feel at all "Primal" and the background makes no sense. Bandit Sivir is fine, I guess.

Groovy Zilean is my biggest complaint though. All I can assume is that Tencent went "This guy looks like he might do drugs, but doesn't also look evil in order to make drugs seem bad. Let's change that."

Lol Renegade Talon should look like Talon before the Noxian assassin business, not some shadow wielding swordmaster that lives in a sandstorm. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool as hell, but it doesn't fit what I feel it should represent; Pre-assassin Talon.

honestly... i first saw the Chinese Renegade art about a year or 2 ago, and i honestly thought it was a fanart all the way up until today, when i saw that it was the proposed change for the splash art... the NA art fits so much better. (even though the Chinese art does look more badass)

Quality is something more than the image sharpness.

The fact it doesn't look like Sivir should disqualify it on the spot, even if it was in super HD and you could count wrinkles.

As a Talon main, here's my feedback on the new Talon skin splash. In some essences I could see how it is better, his body is more proportional (sure, his legs are kinda long/thin in the new one, but in the original he looked like a hunchback), and he looks meaner. However, it doesn't capture the thought behind the skin in the first place. Renegade Talon was supposed to be Talon when he was living in the streets, before he was found, before he joined the Crimson Elite. His gear was supposed to be improvised. Note the torn jeans with tape, the too big sneakers, the kitchen-knife blades. Now, in the new one, this is all gone. His blade is longer, more professional, so are the blades. He looks older, and less desperate.

Also, the slums of Noxus are evident in the old one. In the new one, it is a brown background with (ink?) marks and slashes, giving it a HUGE fanart feel. Overall, I feel like neither skin really fits, and it needs a completely new splash altogether.

This does not go for just Talon, either. Plenty of splashes need new ones, not just different splashes.

Just my two cents.
