I don't think Ahri deserves another skin yet

So, since the Star Guardian skins were announced yesterday, many like myself are upset to see that Ahri is receiving a skin. Now, of course the Ahri mains will defend this but this is expected. This is their main. But, Ahri has been receiving way too many skins lately. She has 7 skins once Star Guardian is released but she doesn’t deserve it. Ahri mains will beg to differ but here are my points:

  1. “She has a huge player base, and her skins will sell”

Really? This is the number one answer that Ahri mains give you if you complain about Ahri skins. Let’s look at another champion that has just as big of a fan base as Ahri. Zed. Zed, as of currently, has a pick rate of 12% as opposed to Ahri’s 8%. Zed came out a little under a year after Ahri but lacks skins. But, he has 4 skins right? Remember, eSport skins do not count to a champ’s skin count and Zed has 2. So Zed, has 2 skins in the past years since he’s been out. And he’s more popular than Ahri. But they have a reason for this and that brings me to my next argument.

  1. “She fits into the theme”

Excuse me? How the hell does she fit into the theme. I mean, if you may recall, the boards refer to Ahri mains as weebs but they keep stating Ahri is from Korean mythology, which is fine. But, the Star Guardian skin line is based on Anime, which is a Japanese subculture. So, how do you explain Ahri getting the Star Guardian skin? You’re gonna say fox-girls are from anime but Ahri is based on Korean mythology, which isn’t Japanese. The same could be said about Arcade Ahri. Arcade Ezreal was JRPG, Corki was Space invaders, and Ahri was….a quick cash grab. That’s exactly what that skin was for. And why else would Ahri be only part of 3 skin lines and the rest of her skins are solo skins, does this explain anything to you?

And those are my arguments against Ahri's new skin. Leave your opinion in the comments below.

I agree that Ahri didn't need it yet, was highly disappointed in Riot's choice for the Starguardians this year. It is one of my absolute favourite skin lines and seeing that they were giving so many slots away to champions, which are extremely popular and get skins on a yearly basis anyway was extremely sad....

Not a single one this time I am interested in. Good thing: At least, the "hyper popular" champions Ahri Ezreal MissFortune are out of the way now, so we can look forward to the Starguardian skins next year.... hope it turns out better.

We can't change it anymore, the skins are done and will come out. But I would appreciate, if Riot makes a break from Ahri skins for the next time. If she gets another one next year, it would make me really mad.

But the reasoning of yours is a bit off. She is not only based on that Korean figure, the nine tailed fox is a figure in many asian cultures, japan as well. And this creature is shown in many anime shows, naturally Ahri will fit in any anime related theme.

Ahri sells. Not to difficult to understand. We already own all the other Ahri skins so why not throw a Legendary out for us. I'm excited!

Its been about a year since her last and 7 while no small number, isnt an outrageous number of skins imo, especially compared to some others. Also I think youre nit picking about themes. In the general sense Ahri fits decently well with SG. I do wish this wasnt her legendary tho, wouldve been more interesting if it were another. I just feel like people will complain if ahri gets anything one way or another.

shrug

She fits the skin theme perfectly as a cute, sexy, female champion. Star guardian was made for cute and sexy female champions. Ahri is also one of the most popular champion in the game so giving her the legendary skin is a no brainer. No one gives a shit about what mythology she is based on, that has nothing to do with skins anyway.

You do not have internal skin sales numbers. You have no idea if the Zed Skins did not sell well. You cannot base your argument strictly on 3rd party data. Only RIOT sees the entire picture. RIOT also pays the staff that artistically creates the skin. It's their financial call.

It's been retconned, Ahri is just a vastaya (just like Xayah).
