If you ignore the overall masculine build, male voice, and how everyone and everything refers to him as male, sure.
Riot's official lore page for Zed says "He" you're reaching really hard with this one.
It literally states in HIS lore that he is male. "His story began as a Boy on the cold steps of home of the kinkou order" but then again it is 2018.
If Zed is a female, but still has such masculine voice, she could be using shadow magic to change her voice, or the shadows we see aren't such, but smoke coming from the 72 cigars she smokes per day.

It is best not to listen to the balance team for lore as they focus on balance, not lore. If you want hints about lore, it is best to do so with the LORE team.

The website's original lore, and current lore, refers to him as male. He has a male build, male voice, literally nobody thinks he's a girl. We all agree that he's a male.

Huh I can see how Zed could be a girl,I have seen so many animes where the girl character straps her boobs with bandegis and dressing like a boy and talk like one. Maybe Zed was a girl from the beginning just she was raised like a boy. Zed's lore is a pretty old one and we don't get to much to see just the parts wear it got the shadow powers and the death of the master.
