Instead of Darkin or Shadow Assassin, there are two what-if outcomes for Kayn's tranformation in Odyssey - he either becomes Dark Star Rhaast or Ascended Kayn. Is the Ascended Kayn as strong as his Dark Star counterpart?
I assume they possess the same power, but its expressed in different ways. Dark Star Rhaast is a Dark Star eldritch abomination that just regained physical form.
One could assume that he could choose to alter his size to match the other Dark Star entities since they are gods basically, and itd be an easy thing for him to do.
SA Kayn has absorbed DS Rhaasts power and pretty much wiped out his personality and mind, taking in his power and Ora, and has become equal to a cosmic entity.
Essentially, Odyssey Kayn is potentionally a Dark Star and Cosmic skin all rolled into one megamaniacal package.
Kayn has nothing to do with Shurima, nor does he gain animal features upon transforming. He is not Ascended.
Consider his Ascended Form should resemble a Cosmic Deity (even if they don't call him one) says everything we should know. Ascended Kayn is incredible powerful but he paid the power with his sanity. The moment he absorbed Rhaast, his mind shattered. So he does have the power... but not the sanity. But still, an insane Cosmic Deity is still a Cosmic Deity. He is probably the most powerful being in the Odyssey!verse. Event Horizon? Clearly not.
Well, the contention suggests that whichever form is the strongest will take control.
If Kayn (the "human") is stronger than Rhaast (the Darkin spirit that is trapped within the Scythe) then he becomes Ascended Kayn (although I think he is supposed to be Cosmic Kayn). Otherwise, Rhaast overpowers Kayn and assumes control of his body.
One can not exist while the other exists, so their respective strengths can't really be compared to the other.
Is Ascended Kayn strong as the rest of the Cosmic skinline?
Id assume yes. It makes no difference, ultimately, who is in control, they are both the sum of their parts. Their powers are equal by default. The only real difference would be how they express their power and how much of it both can tap into.
I personally don't think so, if DS Rhaast is as powerful as the other Dark Stars then he would be as powerful as a space titan, I think maybe like Thanos, as he would be an unstoppable black hole monster. I feel as though Ascended Kayn would be as powerful as any mortal can get
