Easy, because Nami is best girl. She is kind, innocent and compassionate, but not naive; she has an eye for how important her job is and enough steel to get it done. She is my go-to support, and one of the champs who's almost always a decent pick.
And by the way, if there's a single champ in this entire game who I wouldn't be excited to see at least some kind of lore expansion, I can't think of one.
Actually I care more about Nami than Darius and I'm more intrigued by her lore rather than: "grey good guy with an axe".

And some people don't get the concept of a "wide audience". Right now we have 139 new champion and various important NPC. So lets talk about the choice of the comic.
- EVERY champion has their mains. Believe it or not, people loves to get content for their mains and it is great thing if they get it. Riot already has their favoritsm with Miss Fortune, Zed, Lux, Darius and Ahri. It is a good thing if for once someone else get the spotlight. I'm sorry it wasn't your main, but just let people enjoy this.
- Riot is trying different art styles for their comics and this is a manhwa, a comic which you scroll down. This story FITS perfectly for it.
- Right now not all champion can get some lore update, since they are still undefined. Nami recently got a update, so she was able to get one.
- We are gonna get some more comics. So maybe the next one will be more for you.
- We actually get some more information about the Void. People asked about a long time.
- We are probably gonna get Noxus update with Swain, so it is a good think if we for once get some more insight for other region.
- Believe it or not - your opinion is unimportant, if you unable to give valid critic. And your critic is literally "I don't like Nami, fuck u". Fun fact: Nami has a not so small playerbase and she deserves some love. Stop thinking your personal preference is measure of all things. But self-reflection is difficult to use, isn't it?

Riot hinted at void champ in the near future. Maybe its either rasho( giving us more prespective on namis people) or somehow tied to him because he looked pretty void tainted to me.
I'm guessing they did one for Nami since she's in the running for one of the 'main characters' of League, like Ryze and Taliyah. Their wide-spanning personal quests tie them in deeply with the lore of multiple regions.
Also because it gave us some more info on the Void, which people have been starved for since Sol got his intro.

It was rather lackluster. It didn't do anything new for nami, it didn't do anything for her species of vastayans, it didn't do anything it should have.
Darius story wasn't great but it did far more for him than this did for nami.
