So have a ghost-lady who's only emotion is vengeful anger. As a bonus, we'll throw in a void-monster whose dialogue is entirely comprised of growls.

See? We're LISTENINGtm!

I agree about Kalista. She isn't just vengeful, she is a combination of countless souls whose main and often only common emotion is vengeful. She is an embodiment of vengeance, specifically vengeance for betrayal.

The only interesting thing she is related to is her role in the fall of the Shadow Isles. However, her role in there probably won't change how we see her currently. This is unlike all the other Shadow Isles champions, of whom we often don't even know what they fight for. Unveiling the only interesting thing Kalista is involved in won't add anything to Kalista.

Personally, I think she is a boring one-dimensional character lore-wise, she has little to no impact on the storyline and could just as well be left out.

I would've liked her if she had appeared as a side-character in an existing story before her release. She offers vengeance to a defeated side-character who then accepts it, as a plot-twist in an ongoing story. Then suddenly you have your defeated side-character becoming a champion, but also Kalista herself. You could explore what it means to pledge your soul to Kalista through this side-character and what she really is through Kalista herself. Her already being released however would make such a pact less impactful. Kalista is already focusing only on the character of Kalista.

A ghost would be vengeful, thats a reason why she hasnt reached peace. So of course she is gonna act that way, SHE IS A FREAKIN GHOST! Also the void creature is a goddam monster. What would it even have to say? IMO kog maw shouldn't even talk either.

It'd be nice if you worded this a little better. I semi-agree with it, but I love the kits they've been given.

I am really hoping they release SOMETHING about Kalista besides exactly what her title says. They allude to her knowing the Ruined King while she was still alive but her lore is like 3 sentences long and says nothing about her at all.

Thing is,that not every character has to be super complex. Exploring more different kinds of characters adds to the diversity of the roster, but not all kinds of characters are very complex. Sure a complex character is generally something good, but Kalista and Rek'sai have something different and that is uniqueness, because no other champion allows you to be an avatar of some abstract concept,no other champ lets you play as such a vile beast as her.

Also it is not like these characters don't have potential for depht. Kalista still remembers parts of her past, which can come up again, she isn't just expressing hate, but also compassion for those who've been betrayed. The very fact that she is an undead with a moral code is something unique and interesting.

In Rek'sais case there is the thing that she is a monster, she is an animal, which means that right from the get go,she is neither evil, nor good. Also her skills and short lore mention her race, the Xer'sai, what if she is hunting around shurima to actually feed her relatives? If she just wants to protect them, even if she is rather agressive. And what if she would get into a dangerous situation and someone helps her?Would she show gratitude(is she even able to be grateful?)or would she kill her savior without hestitation? Just because she's an animal doesn't mean there can't be more to her character,or do you think that all animals are just one-dimensional beings?

Ok, how about that, just for you they will make a champion who, at the start of every game, sits down for 10 minutes to tell you his whole deep backstory...
