Reading the new story gave me a weird thought.

So we got a little more information about Iceborn and True Ice in the new story. It's been mentioned before that only Iceborn can use True Ice weapons, but how does Trundle fit into that? He's a troll, and isn't stated to be part-human or anything like that, so I'm guessing he's not descended from Avarosa/Serylda/Lissandra, as that would raise a lot of questions. Can trolls just bypass that requirement? Or can Iceborn like Lissandra bestow the capability? Just a random thought.

Trolls are already magical creatures connected to the land.

Iceborn is a term for a type of magically gifted human.

Either the trolls are innately magical or Lissandra actually turned Trundle into an iceborn troll through some method.

Why is this a question though? We know plain humans can't use true ice weapons mainly due to the fact that in the lore story about the descent into the Abyss, the Iceborn guy states that there's an insane, bone freezing chill radiating off the weapons that hurts him, and would pretty much kill anyone who's not Iceborn. So clearly, Iceborn have some kind of innate resistance to the cold that allows them more fortitude to wield those weapons. So then we turn to Frost Trolls, magical humanoids inhabiting the Freljord, who clearly have this super high resistance to the cold due to how Trundle dresses with next to no clothing covering his naked torso. The trolls clearly don't care about the cold, so it's understandable that it'd be nothing for them to wield true ice with ease.

And as a note - this revelation that the Iceborn are resistant to the cold is ugly in that it's a justification for Ashe's miniskirt and exposed arms. After all, she must be an Iceborn descendent due to her ability to wield the bow without dying.

I personally always liked to imagine that the trolls were innately magical, and as such could naturally tap in to true ice, but never did because they never had the culture in place to figure out how to actually use it.

Considering the new lore for the yeti, I can imagine something similar for the frost trolls; an ancient people with an old, long since forgotten civilisation that did use that power in ancient times, but when everything they had fell to shit, they many of their old traditions.

Fell... he is a Frost Troll... maybe all Frost Trolls can use Ice Powers just like all Yetis can use Ice Powers

Trundle is not of human race so he cant be a descendant of the Three... Trundle uses the club just as a normal material weapon and not as a magical one because he cant he isnt of Iceborn blood! For example: If trundle was to have Ashes bow which is also magical and can only be wielded by Iceborn blood, he could only use it as a normal bow and shoto arrows... Ashe however can shoot frost arrows from it and use its magical power... the club has magical powers that trundle cant use

Assuming old lore, Lissandra gifted the club to Trundle especially for Trundle. It make logical sense that, if she fashioned it out of True Ice for him specifically, he could use it normally.

The same might go for any other person, provided they can stand the cold.
